EOKA...

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Nikitas » Tue Sep 16, 2008 9:36 am

Tim,

Interesting series of "coincidences" you point out. I had overlooked those.

I mentioned Limassol harbor above because of some strange and specific memories from childhood. We landed and we were searched till they found my toy pistols which I prized as a five year old. Same happened to all children.

The security staff who could sniff out toy pistols failed to notice that a well known Greek army general landed in Limassol three times in a year and half.

Not when everything begins in 1960!! Better still, why don't we say everything started on 20 Jul 74. This would be much more conventient!!

For you perhaps.

But why deliberately misconstrue what Halil meant ( regarding the beginning as being 1960). I know it is difficult to understand him all the time but you are intelligent enough to understand most of what he says. You keep on going around in circles.
Look, we got rid of Eoka, next step please.

To really understand the Cyprus problem you must look at how it evolved from the 1950s and onwards. You can not ignore this decade, as this is when the first inter communal violence began, due to Britain's "Divide and Rule".

It began in the 1950s and not the 1960s. If you Turks want to play games, then I'm afraid that I am going to have to do the same. I will from now on argue that the whole Cyprus Problem began on 20 Jul 74.

You should be appreciative at my willingness to look at all aspects of the Cyprus Problem and not just certain aspects as you and Halil appear to be doing. The Cyprus Problem began before 1960, and it is about time you all woke up.

Well,,,,some would argue that the Problem started in 1571,or better still with The Big Bang....

You guys are exactly right! Why shall we go back to Adam and eve.

Lets all just ignore everything except for 20 Jul 74 and onwards. Everything else is too far in the past.

A big joke is it? Lets laugh alltogether now.

You have no idea how far I am willing to go in order to play your silly games!!

There you are BK, for all your troubles; a slap in the face from your GC brothers. At one stage I even thought you were GC along with Kiks.

If you want serious discussion and debate, then you should all analyse the problem objectively.

If you do not do this then you do not have the islands interests at heart. If you choose to play games and manipulate, then I will do the same.

And that was exactly my point. You can not ignore history because it suits you. If you want to intellectually analyse and discuss the Cyprus issue, then you must look at all the information, starting from the 1950s, the Zurich Agreements, 1960, 1963-1967, and onwards to the present day.

And BTW, EOKA lives on. It lives on in the hearts and minds of the "True Cypriots". EOKA is eternal!! It never dies!!

Speak for yourself,Paphidis...I am a True Cypriot, and EOKA is not anywhere near me... Except when I have nightmares...

Your not Cypriot. You are an Ottoman Remnant. An invader from 1571!!!

Your allegiances have never been with Cyprus, but with Turkey.

The rest is all talk, as history shows us all the facts.

Thanks for clearing up my identity crises,Paphidis...

By the way...I was born in Paphos,in a little village called Istinjo at the shirts of the mountains...Where were you born,Paphidis???

Born in Australia, but with heavy roots from Tsada and Yeroskipou. Also have investment interests in Cyprus. So I am heavily attached to the island! I have also visited the island frequently by Australian standards.
