EOKA...

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

I’ll take footpaths
To find the steps
That lead to freedom

I’ll lose siblings and relatives
Mother and father
In the thickets yonder
And mountain sides

Looking for freedom
With the only company
The whiter than white snow
Mountains and ravines (?)

Although its winter now,
Summer will come
To bring freedom
In towns and villages

I’ll take an uphill
I’ll take footpaths
To find the steps
That lead to freedom

I’ll climb the steps
I’ll enter a palace
I know it’ll be an illusion
It won’t be real.

In the palace I’ll roam
Until I find the throne
Only a queen
To be seated thereupon

Daughter “πανώρια”(?) I’ll tell her
Open your wings
And take me close to you
That’s all I ask for.

Hello old school mates
The last words I write for you today
And anyone who wants to find a lost brother
An old friend

I’ll take an uphill
I’ll take footpaths
To find the steps
That leads to freedom

5 December 1955 - Evagoras Pallikaridis

Any one recognise the above?

You ALL should

The words of a TRUE Cypriot

(Thanks to a real Cypriot for the translation)

What is Heartbreaking is how some so called "Cypriots" fail to express their respect to this man and others like him.

The real "True Cypriots" will never disrespect such a man.

I find it disgusting how individuals that call themselves "Cypriots" do not recognise his sacrifice.

When Evagoras was murdered by the British, we also lost someone who was destined as a literary great. He was not just a hero, but he was also an artist.

Bananiot the pic does not enlarge, and it is impossible to see faces at its present size.

GR has his own nick.

Seriously though, I am guessing that the 3 guys in that picture are hillarious "comedians". Perhaps the "Patates Antinahtes" stand up comedians. Geez, they are so funny!

Bananiot wrote:Paphitis, the left was targetted by EOKA not because of collaboration with the Brits but because Grivas was a sick anti communist. He proved this in Greece where, during the German occupation, he set up an organisation called "X" which targetted the communists instead of the German occupiers. He in fact collaborated with the Germans against the biggest resistance movement in Greece.

Bananiot, where did you get this information from? When did Grivas collaborated with the Germans? Any links?

Bananiot wrote: Paphitis, your political allegiance is of no interest to me. Grivas was not a brilliant milirary strategist. He was below average with a very low iq.

According to his obituary in the The Times of London, his father intended him to become a physician. On learning this, Grivas fled his home and Cyprus in 1916 to study at the Athens Military Academy. He completed his military studies at the École Militaire in Paris. He graduated in 1919 with the rank of sub-lieutenant and was immediately posted on the Asia Minor front. Grivas served in the 10th Division of the Greek Army and participated in its advance from Smyrna to Panormos and Eskişehir, passed Bursa and the Sakarya River. With the subsequent rout and defeat of the Greek Army and its complete withdrawal from Asia Minor in 1922 he was placed at Redestos, Thrace. He was decorated for his bravery and promoted to lieutenant. He was later selected to study at the French Military Academy and upon his return to Greece he served in a number of posts including that of a lecturer at the Military School of Greece. He was promoted to captain in 1925 and to major in 1935.

It doesn't seem to me that Gen. Grivas was not a brilliant military strategist and of a very low iq.

The constant attempt of many of you to discredit everything regarding EOKA or connected to EOKA and his members is really ridiculous.

Aidan.

...a mass merderer?!

...and how do you know he is burning in...the lake of fire in hell? ...did you get a telegram from Ata? ...an email maybe?

Sometimes is really amusing reading some posts in here :lol
