Were EOKA a bunch of terrorist thugs..? Or were they heroes that need to be looked up to..?

I have brought this subject up on many occasions over the past 20 years with various GC's. I have been told that the majority of Cypriots disagreed with EOKA and their methods but were afraid to speak out against them for fear of their lives and that of their families.

I quote one as saying...."We did not know who was or who was not a member of EOKA so we had to watch what we said out loud for fear of a bomb being planted in our gardens.."

Quite a few have also said they wish Cyprus was still a British colony.

Apart from the AKEL , all Cypriots supported EOKA .
The communists were against EOKA from day one.
EOKA , were a handful of committed fighters numbering about 300 men and supported by the political wing PEKA
and the youth movement ANE .
Their goal was the liberation of Cyprus from British rule and Union with Greece .
They were a well disciplined group and morally respectable. The nonsense talked about shooting people in the back are just that. One or two victims ONLY .

Kudos to you Miltiades, because you have just made inroads to your redemption! At long last I find a post in which I agree with you 100%.

I think you are just beginning to understand what Miltiades stands for and always stood for .
None of my views have changed , I stand by every single word that I posted on this forum on many subjects.
