Presuming it is to do with the achievement by EOKA/Makarios, of partial self-determination for Cyprus ...... I asked him what was the TC contribution towards this 1960 pivotal point, which made him feel like a "TC" .... and there is as yet no reply.

He means that he does not want to discuss what went on before because it does not matter. Cyprus for Cypriots was formed for the first time in 1960. Before then we were ruled by who ever wanted to stop by and take control of the island. He does not want to argue like Piratis and I have done about who came first..the chicken or the egg. As we established last night it was the egg. Out of that egg came the mutation that was the first republic of Cyprus. that was our era and we blew it. Now we have had to evolve as two separate entities in two different continents and the differences have become greater than we expected. Repect must be paid o both species but he respects our ancestral lineage. Comprende???

Goobledegook Zan ....

I'll wait for halil to explain.

We have your view ... and I understand fully now why you feel so little for Cyprus that you want to split it ..... since it's not Cyprus and its long historical lineage that matters to you.

The nomadic culture perhaps .....

Its amazing, what you want to understand you do and then, nothing........

Ok then if you want to participate ....

(1) Explain the highlighted (red) comment of yours!

(2) Explain what contribution the TCs made to help EOKA/Makarios gain (partial) self-determination from British rule!

Easy peasy!!!

1. Greeks have never ruled Cyprus...Just about everyone else has. i was being polite and not mentioning the Ottomans so i said we Cypriots and we were but two distinct people. 1960 gave us our first republic EVER!!!!

2. The TCs helped EOKA/Makarios gain independence by preventing ENOSIS with Greece because if that had been achieved it we would not have had self determination but would have been slaves to Greece. we saved them from themselves.

SO the Byzantine empire was Swedish?

They may have been Choirokitian?

"Greeks have never ruled Cyprus"

One of the pillars of Turkish propaganda which manages to bypass the ancient city states, Salamis being one of them, the Hellenistic period, the Byzantine period, the recognition of the Greek Orthodox church as the main representative of the indigenous people by the Ottomans themselves.

Nation states did not come into being, as we know them today, till the 19th century. Turkey did not happen till 1923. So we could just as easily say that Turkey never ruled Cyprus so it has no claim of any sort. The Ottomans are as extinct as the Byzantines and therefore irrelevant.

This kind of propaganda invites retorts, like the one from Lawrence Durrel: "Cyprus is the most Greek of all Greek islands". He ought to know, he grew up in Greek islands. But let us not go there with this propaganda stuff, it is not helpful.

I have witnessed a turnaround by the TCs, which if left unchecked will lead to them proclaiming they fought the Brits to gain self-determination for us.

They did nothing but hinder the attempts to gain Independence from the British throughout the '50's. So I can well understand why they would rather forget this "embarrassing" overt behaviour of theirs.

Now they proudly proclaim they became TCs in 1960 ... something they had no worthwhile input in achieving!

We left the way clear for them to reap simply "rewards", since Turkey has invaded, with us having fought off the British for them ... not for Independence it seems, but to clear the way to Turkification of the Island.

A double backstabbing by the Otto-Turk-TCs.
