Paphitis is just being a typical Britanniphobic scumbag,not to mention,an absolute nutcase,.Not every empire was evil.The Roman Catholic 'Church' has caused more suffering & trouble than the British Empire ever did.

You're forgetting one thing - the British were actually the very first colonial power to realise how barbaric slavery is,& decided to stamp out the slave trade.

Queen Elizabeth II has actually visited Cyprus,& she is actually very concerned with what is going on there.

To put things into a certain amount of perspective, I think Grivas in his memoirs wrote that he never expected to be able to defeat the British by purely military means. His tactic was to provoke the British into staging a totally disproportionate response which would shock the world with its brutality, thus enabling the real battle at the UN for recognition of the Cypriots' right of self-determination to be won. You have to admit that it was a brilliant tactic, and the British fell into the trap.
