I firmly believe that most political decisions are pre-agreed and then played out for the benefit of the people, but it shows you that this is all one big game at the expense of the people.

Brother let me ask you one question:

Why doesn’t Talat and Turkey give in writting what they are willing to change from the Anan Plan if they are so eager to start the talks?
And if they are willing to change nothing, without getting something equal back, where do you think that will lead us, to a solution or to another OXI?

The point is until EVERYONE realises that the Anan Plan cannot be the basis for new negotiations, these necotiations will not start!

Rafaella,

I too, saw the 2 Turkish Generals at the conference last night and I was really shocked.I thought maybe it was a mistake or something...
What striked me is that I saw nothing in the newspapers today, and all the TV and Radio channels kept complete silence (except one of course.)
What is going on????? I really don't understand.

OK heres what I found. Isn’t it strange that although it says there were participants from Turkey it does not clarify that the participants were 2 Turkish Generals?

Nicosia, May 12 (CNA) -- Military sport is a means to peace especially at a time when peace is under threat, Brigadier General Gianni Gola, chairman of the International Military Sports Council (CISM), has said.

The Brigadier General was one of many speakers who addressed the opening of the CISM Annual General Assembly, that opened here today, with the participation of about 100 countries,
including Turkey , and will conclude on 14 May.

''Our presence here is proof of our respect and recognition. We all know that Cyprus is facing a very delicate political and diplomatic problem. Everybody is looking to the future with optimism and with the belief that it will bring the desired reward,'' Gola said.

He thanked Cyprus for hosting the AGM and added ''Cyprus is almost like CISM: proud of its past and sure of its future.''

The state broadcasters aren't making a big thing of this because it would be extremely embarrassing for the government if the general public were aware that two Turkish generals were walking around freely in Cyprus. Would it not appear massively hypocritical for TPap to go on television one day decrying the Turkish occupation forces and yet the next day show the head of the National Guard chatting amicably with a Turkish counterpart.

Out of interest, does anyone know the backgrounds of the Turkish representatives. Would it not be all the more embarrassing if it was found that they'd commanded in Northern Cyprus?

Ok, lets say that this is the reason why, which I beleive it isn't. I believe there's something else behind it.

What about the turkish state, media and public opinion?
I've checked and I found no article regarding this issue from any turkish media site. Why? What are they afraid to make it known to the public?
The turksih government doesn't recognise CyR, yet, but they send 2 of their generals in Cy through Larnaca airport. Now on their passports have a Cy visa, for me this is official recognition....which actually comes from turkish generals first.

Is Ozkiok aware of that? :D

Are you sure they weren't travelling on diplomatic passports, in which case they would not have a CY stamp due to diplomatic privilege and would not have to go through the normal customs procedures.
