TC anti-occupation graffiti artists arrested

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Nikitas » Thu Sep 18, 2008 3:30 pm

Importin trade unions from Turkey to undermine the local TC unions is an interesting move!

It is using one proletariat against the other. Has anyone pondered the consequences? I have not seen any TC comments on the TC press translations yet.

I have been doing some catching up by reading all you have written on the forum so far and all I can say is,
Welcome to the Forum.

You are giving us information and another points of view different from the NeoPartionist on here who for reasons they only know themselves, are trying to keep Cyprus divided, which can only serve the best interest of those who have, I believe

a) made big gains from the spoils of war
b) are in position of power
c) are the foot soldiers of Turkey
d) racist and hatemongers of the Greek Cypriots
e) racist and hatemongers of the Turkish Cypriots who do not tow the line of fascistic ideas imposed on the TC's by the Denktash types for 30 years, while they kept our people isolated from their fellow citizens, the GC's on the island.
f) they were sold a "bill of goods" to believe that our people would be massacred by the GC's and that giving up their liberty to live under a "corrupted society" was a small sacrifice to save their souls.

These are very clearly the attitude of the two of the most morally corrupted individuals on the forum, VP and Zan. VP has been living on the island for the past 16 years, but you would never know it, since he never posts anything that is negative in what the "trnc" does, but blames all the problems of the north to the embargoes and isolation imposed by the world, and yet, you can buy close to anything you want in the north. As you said, that there is a one car for every two person in the north, despite living in a false economy. Instead, he tries very hard to justify and support policies of the north which are Racist, Undemocratic and violation of Human Rights as a model for the future for Cyprus. Here is a man who was born and raised in the UK for the first 30 years of his life before moving to Cyprus, and yet, he has zero appreciation for True Democracy and Human Rights. As for Zan, he has lived almost all of his life in the UK from age 2, and he too, have a very dim view of Democracy and Human Rights. These two individuals try to pass themselves as the voices of the TC's in the north. Just because our people have been kept as "prisoners" on their own island and spoon fed information from the likes of Denktash with fascistic ideas, as well as our people who have been made to corrupt their moral values to feel comfortable in stealing others land and property to claim them as their own, because the alternative was massacre by the GC's if they refused, so they were made to believe.

For a long time, myself and Birkibrisli, or it seemed, to have been the lone voices in combating these two individuals as well as many others with similar and sometimes even views that are worse, if it's possible, but over the last 6 months, I have seen a change on the forum where more and more TC's are speaking up against the morally corrupted NeoPartitionist, which is very comforting to know. We all want peace, but peace that will take the country in the right direction and not a temporary one where sooner or later we will end up back to the days of 1963 again. But if you listen to these NeoPartionist, that is exactly what they want. They want to have "peace", just like what the Annan Plan offered, so that a partition can happen at later date, but this time legally with the recognition that came with it. I do not believe these are the desires of True Cypriots who genuinely want peace and want a True Federation with every one's democratic and Human Rights in place. Talat so far has shown himself to be all over the place with his comments about what peace should look like, and if "peace" doesn't look like what Turkey wants, or the fascists from the north, then the EU should bend it's rules to accommodate the north, no matter how undemocratic or how much the plan has Human Rights violations. In another words, not only we have created a "corrupt society" in the north, we also want the rest of the EU, with over 400 million people, to become corrupted also by asking them to change the rules to accommodate the 100,000 TC's. Is there no limit to the arrogance of the NeoPartitionist, I ask you.?

Keep up the well written and informative posts that you are making. You are making an impact in what you are saying, so expect to be attacked by the morally corrupted NeoPartitionist. Birkibrisli and I have gotten used to it over time. Desperate people do desperate things, and the evidence is all over this forum by those individuals.

We all have a right to our opinions and living here in the TRNC allows me the opportunity to hear read first hand what the majority of TC think and feel. People like you and Vuryek are also free to air your views but luckily enough you are a very small minority or otheriwse the whole island would have been a GC state by now and the TC just reduced to a minority status.

Why dont you and Vuryek tell us what safeguards do you want for the TC community in a solution and dont spin the True Democracy cause it dont exsist, there are only shades of democracy.

As you said VP, you are entitled to your own opinion, no matter how wrong you may be with that opinion.!! Of course, you don't mind being a minority in a "settlers state" in your own "country", do you VP.? I thought you were against being made into a minority status. I guess not all minority status are the same to you, are they VP.! You consider some "masters" more deserving and equal than others. Oh jeez, it's the "Animal Farm" story all over again.

We had all the safeguards we wanted, given to us in 1960 Constitution, and just exactly what good did it do to us VP, and now you want to talk about the same "safeguards" as before for protection. No such safeguards ever going to work, if it comes at the expense of others Democratic and Human Rights. I would have thought you would have learned that lesson by now. I have told you before, which is, make a list of your worse fears that might happen in the future that will effect the TC's in a major way, and put it in the new Federal Constitution upon being agreed by the GC's. No one is ever going to give us a veto vote power ever again VP, because that would mean giving us 100% of power. You know what the saying is, Absolute Power Corrupts, Absolutely!!. I'm not so sure people like you can be trusted with such Power. In fact, I know people like you can't be trusted with such power. It's a good tool to block the government from doing anything and bring it to a stand still, in order to gain your legal independence from the union. Once the 1960 Constitution is opened up to accept BBF, then all bets are off as to what was there for the TC's, in the form of safeguards. They will all have to be re negotiated, and somehow, I doubt the new constitution will look anything like the 1960 one, assuming we get that far with the negotiations.

Yes VP, there are many "Shades of Democracy" which you can find them in every Muslim country as well as all the "Banana Republic" countries and across Africa and Asia. Well, we are not at any of those places lucky for us, since we are in the EU and the West in general, and the type of Democracy we like to practice here, is a True Democracy which is far superior to all other "Shade of Democracies", despite it's faults. We do not want to live under a "Shady Democracy" VP, but I know for you, "Shady Democracy" is the only way to "steal" others Democratic and Human Rights away in order for you to feel equal with them, if not superior. True democracies in the West makes you equal with one man one vote. Isn't that what you been asking for in the BBF, to be equal politically. Well, here is your chance to be equal, and without stepping on others Democratic and Human Rights. What you need to do VP is, is to decide whether you want to live with the values of Europe and the West, or in any other "Shades (shady) of Democracy". Once you have reached that conclusion, it will be easier on you to accept the future of Cyprus.

Thank you for allowing me to have an opinion whether it is right or wrong is not for you to decide, no one gave you that divine right you seem to keep forgeting this fact. The fact that you choose to be a minority in Switzerland another mans country is your choice but I do not want to be reduced to a minority status in Cyprus as I am just as indigenous as any GC, they do not have exclusivity and sole rights to dominate and run this country due to their numerical advantage we have to be placed in a position where they cannot push us aside as they did in the past and claim sole rights to recognition and the benefits that they have reeped for so many years.

As for your claims that we are a minority amongst our own citizens is laughable when you consider that your roots and one and the same as those that arrived here 30 years ago. Plus if faced with the choice of being a minority amongst GCs under a bad solution and Turks, I personally would choose Turks, ı know you may hate to hear this but the past tells us that if GCs are given the freedom to solely apply "democracy" for all then we are doomed to discriminaiton and seconf class citizenship, compared with the last 34 years TCs have never been so well off, the average TC lives a life on a par with people south of the divide, ho sorry you would not know this has you have never been to the TRNC.

I have the same trust concerns about you and people like you who are mainly hardliner GCs, it appears you have problems and continue to contrdict leader who even today was negotiating safeguards that will ensure that both sides will stick to any new agreement and if they should deviate will know full well the consequencies involved.

You reallt have to come to terms with the fact that any solution will be on the basis of a BBF with political equality of the 2 states and not a unitary state.

The New Cyprus Party (YKP) reacted to the arrests of four youths accused of graffiti in the north of Cyprus this week. In early September, four Turkish Cypriot youths were arrested on suspicion of writing on walls and posting posters. One of those arrested is the son of Erol Seherlioglu , the president of Tip-Is and another one of them is the son of Tevfik Yoldas who is the president of DAU-Bir-Sen. Both unions are member organizations of the Cyprus Peace Platform. According to reports, the four youths were interrogated for up to 15 hours, their photos were taken while they were under arrest and a file was made on them as criminals and both their and their family’s houses were searched while nobody was at home. After the 15 hour interrogation the four young persons were released.

But on Monday 8th September further arrests followed, when four youths were arrested by claiming that they were caught “red-handed” as they were writing on walls. One of them is the son of Remzi Yektaoglu who is the member of YKP Party Council. Reports claim their houses were searched, computers were seized, and the youths were not allowed to contact with their lawyers or families. On 14th September there was a court trial for the second group preventing them from leaving the north of Cyprus.

YKP General Secretary of the Executive Committee, Murat Kanatli reacted to the incident: “It is certain that, these circumstances have created annoyance in some circles. “Especially on the 1st of September, the political environment, who saw the possibility of bi-communal mass demonstration, remembered their old habits, escaped from the society, hid behind the symbols and consoled about the importance of organizations from the south, which send representatives to their demonstrations.

“Also, the deep state has been annoyed by this process. “Thus, they punished the young persons who wrote their political demands, so as to give an oppressive message to the wider society,” said Kanatli.
