TC anti-occupation graffiti artists arrested

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Floda » Wed Sep 10, 2008 12:51 pm

Have just heard that the four youths have had their hands chopped off and their tongues cut out and fed to the dogs !!.

Typical Turkish justice, always prepared for open negotiations with the civilized world.

I have lived in England for a good few years and never heard anyone talk about "englishness". In this part of the world all we hear is "Turkishness" and "Greekness". These are cretin terms which aim at feeding the most reactionary forces in our societies.

The amazement of some Greek forumers at the news that there are Turkish Cypriots that declare openly their objection to the continous presence of the Turkish army shows how detached these people are from reality. This is because they stubbornly refuse to remove their blinkers, because they think that their "Greekness" will be at stake if they did so.

Not amazed at the kids Bananiot, I was amazed cause they got arrested. Didn't think this happened in the 21st Century.

Bananiot,

It is not an offence in Greece or in Cyprus to insult Greekness. It is an offence in Turkey, and apparently in the TRNC.

More sensitive than usual on comments about your buddies Bananiot?

It's not us initiating the concept of Turkishness .... this from Eurasia News shows it is in the genre already.

HOPES LOW FOR CLARIFYING ANTI-“TURKISHNESS” CONCEPT

The infamous Article 301 of the Turkish penal code, which outlaws “humiliating Turkishness,” has been the focal point of criticism that the country lacks decent legislation allowing free speech.

It may not be Nikitas but can you imagine a teacher giving a speech and making just a small hint that the official Greek line is flawed on any issue? In my 30 years of being involved with schools I have never experienced anything remotely close to this. And, we have national speeches almost every other week, as you probably know.
