Cyprus in Winter

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

If the sun is out during the day it's quite warm and as Bubbles said it is cold at night you will need the heating on once the sun goes down.
The rental prices will depend on whether you want 1, 2 or 3 bedrooms and the length of rental.

Thanks for the replies people!
So, that's the weather covered - what about day to day life. Does it go dead? Or does it go back to being more 'Cypriot' in terms of life and culture - rather than being touristy.
Do you recommend it?

To be honest, I get pretty bored here in winter. Most people will deny that's the case though, whether they think it or not.

Is there really that little to do? Why do you get bored? Is it that things close or that there's noone about? What's the story? x

Winter time is great for hiking, trekking, cycling, beach-combing, visiting places like Tombs of the Kings which get too hot in Summer etc. .... :D

Cyprus in winter

Postby pegs » Tue Sep 16, 2008 10:20 pm

Hiya Sal
Seems they're all in a jokey mood again....but its having a laugh that keeps us all going.
I live in one of the villages in the Ammochostos area. Take a look at www.yearlyrentalscyprus.com they have quite a few properties to rent as in apartments and villas.
They are well recommended in this area.
With regard to the weather during winter well over here on the south east coast it doesn't really start until Jan - but will last until March. We are at sea level and the days are usually lovely, blustery sometimes, and bright. Its always warmer out of the house than it inside during the day.....yes it does chill down at night but if you can tuck your feet up on the sofa you can stand the average 6 weeks of cold.
Let's be honest, the reason we find it cold is because of the extreme temperatures we've had all summer.....and with regard to this year since May!!
I have lived here since 1985, and in those days had a little apt. with no heating except the gas oven. You learn to adapt and cope with what you have.
You don't say which area you are living in at present, I spent a winter in Latsi and you really can't beat those wonderful walks along the seashore in winter....then back home to a log fire.
Good luck whatever you decide.

Thanks for the info pegs! I'm hoping to stay. I've been offered a job but I don't want to live in a ghost town which some people are indicating Cyprus becomes. But I avoid mass tourist places anyway so think i may actually prefer the winter!
