I have been speaking to a lot of family and friends in cyprus recently, and there has been a new wave of fear hitting the north that the ROC is soon going to try and force all the tc that got ROC passports hence accepting their citezenship to do the millatary service in the south, at first i told them that they were being paranoid but then a very well connected family friend(he is gc) told us that it is true and trhe goverment in the south is waiting for the right time to hit them with it, and what they will do is grab them as they come over to the south to visit, shop or work.

If true will this not drive the biggest wedge between the communities.

Brother, you must be crazy to even believe them, set aside to reproduce them.

Even the Maronites who are supposed to belong to the GC community are excluded and have never been called for military service and this goes on for 31 years now.

Also the Armenian Cypriots are excluted.

anyone who has 2 cents of brain would realise that the moment you let the enemy into your army, you might as well dismantle it. Its a bit like the israelis letting the palestinians in their army, they do everything possible to now allow the israelis arabs to serve because they know that even if out of 10 000, 200 are collaborators with the PLO, their army is pointless and every single operation is compromised. I wonder which village idiot thought of this one.

The Garbage Press of the north (Volkan and CIA) most probably. Those who want to discourage the TCs from having RoC passports. Last year Volkan reported that GC doctors in the south were using TC patients for new drug experiments!!!

Guys as always i talk about what i hear and then hence get opinions like yours, but this scare mongering is working quite well now i hear.

LAtely a G.C official said, the National Guard (or whatever you call it) was founded in 1964 for only Greek Cypriots. So it will be ridiculous to take T.Cs into an Army which was founded for G.Cs. That's what he said. And as for the property trials, he said these people were not sued by the RoC but by private companies and the people who were sued must claim that "they got these properties because of the war" or smthn like that. He said neither G.Cs nor T.Cs should sue each other. I read this interview at Kibris Gazetesi.

I also heard that the T.Cs staying at Greek hospitals will have to pay some fees. There is no more free health care for Turkish Cypriots. Is it true or this is also another false news by Turkish media?
