Papadopoulos got his wish

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Papadopoulos got his wish

Postby DT. » Thu Sep 04, 2008 8:14 am

It seems that we are negotiating directly with Turkey after all!

While Christofias spoke of a united country, a solution for Cypriots and not for foreigners, a chance for the 2 to compromise Talat's opening speech made NO mention of a federal state but of 2 states, of a need to maintain the Treaty of gaurantee, and of the need to maintain and satisfy the balance of power of our two motherlands in Cyprus.

It would have been good if he had mentioned at least 1 thing for the Cypriots.

He did not even say he wants a BBF, just 2 constituent states that belong to a what? A kebab? a confederation? a prickly pear? a federation maybe Mr Talat?

News over here speak of the utter dissapointment of Christofias on listening to Talat's opening speech and his anger at the steps back he's taken after his latest Ankara trip.

Halil, take to the streets and demonstrate against Talat. Ask for a leader with some Cojonas.[/b]

I can not for the live of me understand why our side would even bother negotiating.

Any solution that places Turkish and Greek Interests over and above those of the indigenous Cypriots, is doomed to failure at the Referendum.

Someone told me, and I hope they are right, that these negotiations are part of President X cunning plan to reveal the Turks and their unwillingness to compromise to the entire world. I was also told that the talks will break down as soon as President X starts making demands.

Time will tell.

DT.,
Are the foreigners that you are referring to are the British expatriates that have retired to Cyprus,or are you referring to the scummy Turks that have been imported into northern Cyprus by the regime up in Ankara?

The foreigners I'm reffering to are the "2 motherlands" and the British bases.

No DT., we are again negotiating with Turkey indirectly, just like we have always done.

When I hear some people talking about the "left wing" or "progressive" Talat and how with him somehting will change I think those people must be complete fools.

Talat is nothing. He is just the mouthpiece of the Turkish army, and we all know how "progressive" they are. It makes no difference if the mouthpiece is called "Talat" or "Dektash". What the army orders is what they will do, and there is no way they will ever do or say anything which is not approved by the Turkish generals.

DT.,
The Sovereign Base Areas have never been part of the Republic of Cyprus,as they're British Army-administered colonies. The future arrangement should consist of the territory at independence in 1960.

DT .
from begining of the talks Talat and TC's pointed out always same demands .u can search from the Forum how many times i was posted here TC's red lines .Nothing to do with talat Ankara last trip .
What the majority of the TC's wants and Talat have to follow their desires other wise he can not get support from TC's DT .
Don't forget TC's majorities said yes to Annan Plan , TC's will not go behind the plan .
No need for me for demonstration against Talat .This is my personal idea. There will be some groups in TC's against him .less than 1 % .

From yesterday meeting I understood that very soon talks will collapsed .
two sides are far away from each other . We will see .

Last night Talat has made speech from the Bayrak Tv to TC's and clearly he said :
basic structure which will have a Turkish Cypriot State and Greek Cypriot State as constituent states with equal status but single identity for all sides .Continuation of the 1960 Treaties of Guarantee and of Alliance as an essential part of a settlement; safeguards to ensure that neither side can claim jurisdiction over the other; and maintaining the internal balance between the two sides in Cyprus as well as the external balance between Greece and Turkey over Cyprus, as elements they attach great importance.

Halil, forgetting the turkish fairytale that the first thing the GC's will do in a solution is slaughter all TC's, which one of Talat's points serves the TC's and how many serve Turkey?

AIdan, the British can maintain a presence in the form of topless teenagers in Ayia Napa if they like in fully paid up B&B's. Thats it.

The British can pay up on their lease of Cypriot Territory or they will be issued with an eviction notice as soon as we finish dealing with the greedy non compromising Turks!

Paphitis,
The Akrotiri & Dhekelia Sovereign Base Areas are British colonies,so how can the Cypriot Government try to evict them? It's not logical.Think of the benefits to those who work in those 2 colonies.Forcing the British to give them up will do those workers out of employment.
