Turkish Cypriots treated fairly..?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Hali, your rights are not whatever you want them to be. Based on which of your rights you want to rule over north Cyprus, when north Cyprus, like every other part of Cyprus belongs to Greek Cypriots by 82%? Your "right" to ethnically cleanse and steal? Nobody told you that this is not your right, but that it is a crime?

So stop confusing your undemocratic outrageous criminal demands with what you have the right for. Your minority in Cyprus has the same rights that the Greek minority has in Turkey. Why don't you give to our minority in Turkey the rights you demand for your minority in Cyprus? You are a "higher" race than them or what? Or maybe they didn't suffer as well? (they, just like us, suffered tons more than you did)

Piratis
Although we have suffered way way more than you, we did not seek revenge, neither we are now.

So what was 1963? and whats to stop you from reneging on your word like the past?

Your oppressive rule was over just 8 decades earlier, but in the 1950s we had already forgave you and we were living peacefully with you. Where did you see the "revenge"?

Your hidden agenda to gift our island to Greece.

In 1955 we simply revolted against the British rule (just like we had done against the Ottoman rule many times in the past) to seek our freedom from the foreign oppressors. We had not touched you, we only fought for our rights and freedom.

Freedom to push us into the lap of Greece and ultimate danger fearing for our lives, I think that fear alone gives me the right to fight for survival.

And then you started to demand and make plans for our annihilation from the north part of our country, and in 1958 you attacked us and collaborated with the British in order to oppress our revolution.

In direct response to your enosis dream.

The inter-communal conflict was started by you and we just responded to your attacks. The same was true for the 1974 invasion. You had not been harmed in 1974 until after July 20th when you again started to kill and ethnically cleanse us.

So you expected us to sit back and wait for you to fight amongest yourselves when all the signs were that once you had finished you would turn on us, we fought for survival and woudl do the same tomorrow if we felt threatened by your actions, this is a natural reaction.

Therefore how can you demand today to have gains on our loss?? You have no right to demand such thing.

All we demand are our right to not be put at the mercy of GCs in our own country, the right to say no when the majority wants to place us in danger or tries to froce us to do anything against our will.

And I repeat: although we suffered and continue to suffer a lot from you, we are not trying to punish you, like you are trying to punish us. What we want is finally to be allowed to have democracy and human rights for all Cypriots and nobody to be punished and nobody to be rewarded on the loss of another.

Are Switzerland, Belgium, Serbia and Montenegro not democracies?

Piratis do please take into a/c that our own people were fighting each other prior to the invasion . The Paphians descended upon Limassol in the early days of the coup in support of Makarios , old scores were being settled and many became the victims of the extremists.

Sure. And in Turkey they had several coups and they killed each other as well. Does this mean Greece should have invaded them to "save the Greek minority" when in fact the coupists where not targeting them?

Our island has survived many invaders and no doubt it will survive the present . What we must encourage is the involvement of both of our communities in the struggle to force the occupying troops out of Cyprus. We can not do so unless we accept that the T/Cs are part of the integral infrastructure of Cyprus as equals and not as a mere minority .

What does it mean "mere minority"? Kafenes or "Armenian Cypriot" who belong to the Armenian minority are not equal Cypriots? There is nothing "mere" in belonging to an ehtnic minority. It is just a recognition that certain part of the population has some differences and this part of the population recognized as an ehtnic minority helps to protect this ethnic group.

For example the Turks for years denied that there is a Kurdish minority in Turkey. They used to call them "Mountain Turks". Recognizing an ehtnic minority is a plus for those people and not a minus.

Piratis it is time that you divorce your self from the majority and minority constrains. Kafenes is not a minority , he is a Cypriot , I'm not a minority by pronouncing my self a Cypriot . My daughter and grandchildren are not a minority , my daughter was born in the UK , her mother being English. Is she a minority , no Sir she is as Cypriot as you and I are. To hell with majorities , are we or we not predominantly Cypriots .Those T/Cs that reject their Cypriotness are not a minority they are" Foreigners " just as foreign as the G/Cs who reject their Cypriotness in preference to Hellenism. Kafenes is a prime example , a true Cypriot sees himself predominantly as a Cypriot , he is no minority.

all the words you are using like Greek minority in Turkey ,criminal acts ,stealing .....blap....blap .....these are old fashined words .... all the time repeating them or whenever trying to say someting you talking about manorities in Turkey .... it is not my bussiness , also minorities in Greece it is not my business ....

Halil , absolutely agree with piratis on this one. Cyprus belongs to all Cypriots and all Cypriots have the same rights. You community is no more special than GC's are.

I fail to see how fair and ethical is to kick people out of their homes in order to build a country. Just as unethical the crimes against TC's in the 1960's. Two wrongs cannot make a right.

I must admit I was not remotely aware that there is in Turkey a Cypriot minority as per Piratis "Why don't you give to our minority in Turkey "

With an 8 to 2 ratio "democracy" can be exploited to our communities detrement, would you accept this imbalance with Turkey being the majority? Please do not us ask us to put ourselves at the mercy of GCs without a right to say no when and where necessary.

Once you have liberated yourself from the notion that you are not a Cypriot but a Turk then you will always be a minority in realistic terms. You see your self as predominantly a Turk , not a Cypriot , accept that Cyprus is your country and that you are a Cypriot first and foremost and suddenly you discover just as I HAVE , that you are in the majority on this island. By consistently and continually rejecting your Cypriotness you leave your self open to accusations of being a foreigner on this island.

Can the "Cypriots" of Greek origins exploit their numerical advantage to the detrement of "Cypriots" of Turkish origin, how can you expect us to jump into the fire hoping for the best all in the name of we are all "Cypriots". Wake up no one can be that naive.
