True colours of the Attila

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby BirKibrisli » Tue Sep 02, 2008 2:22 pm

I thought you might find the following lines of some interest...They are from Ali Osman's latest column in AFRIKA's online version, titled "Just admit You are Puppets"...The translation is mine and it is rather free but accurate...

".......It's pointless to hit the streets crying "Let's Support the Leader for a Solution". What if we gave our support? The situation now is beyond bloodymindedness. The regime to which they hve surrendered is the most terrifying. It can swollow at any time anyone who comes near it. And they are hopelessly defending it (the regime).

Sorry people, hit the wrong button...The rest will follow soon...

Didn't the so-called foreign minister over there today claim that they've invested too much in Morphou and Famagusta and they have no intention of handing over 1mm to the GC's?

Their statements are farcical.Take for example Ozdil Nami's situation when addressing the issue of the refusal to allow the GCs to use the Limnidi crossing. He couldn't say." it's the Military,Mr Yakovou, our hands are tied!". He froze like a puppet in front of Yakovou, because he didn't have permission to give an answer. Talat's spokesman Ercakica's position was even more comical. "There are no gates at Limnidi," he said,"we cannot check who comes and goes..." The crossing used only weeks ago by the TCs to go to Erenkoy now had no gates, and that was the reason for refusal!.......Come clean and say,"The north of Cyprus is run by the military, and so are all who live there!" Tell the truth for once in your lives.

As for supporting the Leader towards a solution...by all means lets take to the streets and cry out, "The obstacle to the solution is Ankara's civilian and military rule!". Stop wasting our time, and getting on our nerves by telling lies.

This is what I'm trying to communicate to Halil. The candles and singing won't work. Not when you have the turkish millitary elephant in the negotiating room.

You are such a defeatist DT. Last night Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots held a joint mass rally for peace at Ledra Palace. Our common enemy is whoever is preventing peace and surely we all understand that the Turkish army does not like the idea of common struggle of Turkish and Greek Cypriots because it goes against its interests.

When I wrote that the Turkish army is behind the events at Limnitis, the super patriots of the forum jumped on me like they were possessed because they wanted to prove that the Turkish Cypriots are just as bad. They are doing a great deservice to the cause of Cyprus by alienating the Turkish Cypriots from the common struggle. They have done this before and brought disaster to Cyprus and it seems, they never learn.

Can someone please explain to me how this peaceful solution based on BBF is going to work, considering the fact that most TC are gainfully employed in a service orientated public service? When Turkey's handouts stop, will it be up to the GCs to pick up the tab?

So many people talk about BBF, but fail to address how it will work from an economic point of view. Is a BBF VIABLE?

Paphitis said BBF. Not how it would work in a confederation.

I am the defeatist? You've supported a plan that 99% of TC's have admitted as being unfair to the GC's. Even VP has stated this. You support showering the other side with goodwill while condition after condition that is presented to us is satisfied and we receive NADA goodwill. You talk of accepting a disastrous solution simply because the next one will be worse...AND I'M THE DEFEATIST?????
