Double standards in what way?
In the original thread started by Ray I said:
As I said before the above cases are totally different from Cyprus. I didn't have a look at the case of Abkhazia, but from what I've seen about S.Osetia, the Osetians have always been the vast majority of that region, somehting like the Kurds in Kurdistan.
Of course historically the Georgians can have some claims there, but my knowledge of the history of that region is not good enough to come to any final conclusions.
I never supported either side on this issue simply because I do not know their history good enough to express an opinion.
I simply expressed my opinion on
how this development can affect the Cyprus issue.
Who is applying double standards is Bananiot.
According to Bananiot the case of Abkhazia and North Cyprus is the same. And while he is full against the Russians and Abkhazians, the Turks are his
friends(!!!!) and he actually wants to give them to officially keep what they took from us by force! Why don't you advice the Georgians the same Bananiot? The power difference between Russia and Georgia is much greater than the difference between Turkey vs Cyprus/Greece.
I noticed that he used the term "ethnic cleansing" for what happened in Abkhazia. I don't remember Bananiot ever saying this for Cyprus.
No Bananiot,
you are the one who is applying double standards.
I have not researched the case of Abkhazia so I can not express an opinion. But
IF the case is exactly as you describe it (and this is a big "if" knowing that you often adopt the one sided propaganda of your favorite side and you are never objective), then I have no problem to say clearly that I disapprove any secession of Abkhazia from Georgia.
