moh_omari2 it is a heartwarming thought, and welcome.

such a demonstration can have an effect if the island's population as a whole would gather for it. the sponsors of this demonstration, essentially the teachers' union and their political party are the rare exception in a mono clonal scheme and should be supported. and in light of the Limnitis incident it is an opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to one island, as one people, unlike the authorities who have allowed technical difficulties to stop them in this same desire.

whether the cynical evaluation is true or not, the opportunity for other dialog should be welcomed. without it the extremist who find their pleasure in the exclusivity which isolates us from one another win, again.

...how exciting such a demonstration would be if it were possible that roughly 80% of "them" were "Greeks".

Think about warior, most GC's want peace on the Island and they consider their Island under occupation. And it is from both Turkey and TC's. there are 200,000 people who are not allowed to return home and the TC's think thats okay.

a bit hypocritical if you ask me. lighting a candle for peace whilst telling someone sorry you speak greek, you believe in the same God as I but you call it a different name therefore I am going to stay in your home and guess what I have guns, guns and more guns to keep you out.

I fail to see how this constitutes a peace rally. It's a rally of TC's saying we are jacked off living like this we want freedom. That's all it is.

Why don't we all light candles and hope for world Peace? especially poor Gorgia :-( instead of dwelling in the stupid past why not suport and all get together and pray for those who really need it..

Sorry I am not taking any ones side but what future is beautiful Cyprus going to have if people keep digging uneccessary holes? We live next door to a lovely Turkish family who use to live up the road from where my dads family use to live in Cyprus and we help and support each other no silly comments made.
