Beijing 2008 - London 2012

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

Beckham may be an ambassador, but footbal is unlikely to be played in 2012 as Scotland, N Ireland and Wales do not want to losr their identities, and ther places in the World Cup and European Championships. Sepp Blatter has hinted that if there were to be a GB team in the Olympics then he would want a GB team in the other competitions.
There would then be a reduction in voting rights, which would suit him. Scotland may be an Independant Nation by 2012 - what happens then ?

Rowing will be at Eton Dorney near Windsor

Go on the London 2012 website for more info

Bubbles

I can your thinking RichardB- but athletes from all around the UK will be competing - not just London - so as some listeners suggested, the committee should reflect this.

I would hope people from all over the world will be competing bubbles but one would not expect the London games commitee to reflect this in their advertising - what do you expect shots of Kurium ampitheater above the banner 'Welcome to London 2012'

 That would please a lot of the English Cypriots out there Richard

As several callers pointed out, their countries will be also competing under the GB flag (i.e. Eire, Wales and Scotland) - not just the English, so why can't they be included?

Now then bubbles listen to me

The flag the British team will be competing under is the Flag of GB ie the union flag-NOT the flag of England OK This flag is made up of the flags of England ,Scotland ,Wales and NI

Eire is not part of GB OK (Tess will not be pleased with You ) Northern Ireland (Ulster)is

Which part of "IT is the City that hosts the Games NOT the country" dont you understand

I understand it all thanks Richard (even if I mixed up my Ireland's earlier! - second apology to Tess!

I was just re-iterating what was asked on the radio last night.

BTW, does the union jack have the Welsh flag? One is definitely missing!

No worries Bubbles!!! A close friend once downloaded and made a CD of old Irish rebel songs for me, and accidently included "the 'prentice boys" who were actually batting for the other side so to speak!!!! (good rousing song all the same though)!!
