Paedophile pop star Gary Glitter goes into hiding

Glitter in hiding after return

Sex offender Gary Glitter is in hiding after finally arriving back in Britain and being ordered to sign the sex offenders register.

Shamed former glam rock star Glitter, 64, has three days to give police his permanent address, but officers are thought to be aware of his current whereabouts.

Neither Glitter nor his solicitor would say where the sex offender planned to live now he had reluctantly returned to Britain.

He arrived home on Friday after a four-day tour of Asia in an apparent bid to avoid returning to Britain following his release from a Vietnamese prison.

When he was freed after serving two years and nine months of a three-year sentence for sex crimes involving girls aged 10 and 11, Glitter flew to Bangkok where he was due to board a flight to London.

Saying he felt ill, Glitter refused, but Thai authorities would not allow him through passport control and he eventually flew to Hong Kong.

Chinese authorities also refused him entry and he flew back to Bangkok where Thai police and immigration officials insisted he return to Britain.

He arrived at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Friday and stayed there while his solicitor David Corker went to Uxbridge Magistrates Court, west London, as Scotland Yard successfully applied for an order requiring him to register as a sex offender.

The order will last indefinitely but he has 21 days in which to appeal.

Being on the register does not prevent Glitter from traveling abroad but if he plans to be away for more than three days, he must inform police.

Paul Gadd needs to be given either the Nicolae Ceausescu Treatment (being put up against a wall & shot) or the Saddam Hussein Treatment (strung up),but in public,& it's execution filmed so it can be shown on T.V. & uploaded onto YouTube.

Aidan

It's all very well to advocate execution for those guilty of sex crimes against children but there are major issues if you do.

Firstly, if an accusuation of sexual assault is made by a child, it is almost impossible to prove innocence. There is a parallel with rape accusations; let us say a couple have consensial sex, if the female then cries 'Rape' how does the male prove innocence?

Seconly, if a sexual attack on a child warrants execution do you also have the same punishment for Rape and Kidnapping? If so, then my third point is valid for an even greater range of crimes.

lastly, if someone does sexually assault a child, then they might just as well murder the child - it will increase the chance of voiding detection considerably but, if they are caught then the punishment will not be worse.

No, automatic execution will lead to increased murder of children and the possible execution of someone innocent of any crime.

I agree 100% Lana. If the crime is punishable by death, then there's the "nothing to lose" attitude that would indeed increase the murders of these victims. I think that they should be given hard, physical work, so that they are too bloody tired to think about sex!!!

I agree with Lana; Gadd is hopefully no risk to children in the UK because of the publicity surrounding him.

We should be more worried about the 10,000 or so on the sex offenders register who are not so well known… the every existence of the register and requirement to sign it implies some form of risk.

If it were down to me I wouldn’t let a convicted sex offender out of prison unless the authorities could guarantee that he would not re-offend and be held accountable if he did. I.e. I’d put the protection of the public before the rights of the offender…

Mind you, I’d do the same for most criminals… :x
