Rotating Presidency?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Rotating Presidency?

Postby Sotos » Thu Aug 21, 2008 6:43 pm

Do you accept rotating presidency between GCs and TCs? How would it work? 1 GC then 1 TC? Or will it be 4 GC then 1 TC? The Turks want rotating presidency AND to keep all their settlers. This means that the settlers by themselves can almost elect a president and that a settler can be the president of Cyprus!! Are we supposed to accept such thing?? :?

The TC's side which has rejected the Greek Cypriot side's proposals regarding a presidential system ,wants a council equipped with powers consisting of a president and a vise president.

The biggest disagreement on the the creation of a federal Cypriot State is said to be on the issue of adminstration.

During meeting of working groups .the Greek Cypriot side proposed a presidential system compromised of a president ,vice president and a council of ministers. The president and vise president would be directly and joint elected by the guarenteed ratios of the two communities .In other words , ın order for a president or vice president to be elected ,the candidate should receive the minimum percentage of votes from the other community.

The Turkish Cypriot side rejected this in its entirety and instead has proposed the creation of a presidential council on which both the president and vice presidentwould have seats. The persones on the presidential council would be elected by members of parliment and would have significant powers. The Turkish Cyprioy side has also proposed that the 5 year presidency be shared in rotation with a Greek Cypriot taking up the post for 3 years and a Turkish Cypriot for the remaining two .While the Turkish Cypriot side insist on internal soverignty or jurisdiction , it wants equality in all ranks of federal police .

the Turkish Cypriot side has not rejected in principle the equal participation of Cyprus in The EU's joint defence and security policy,as published recently in politis newspaper.
participation in this policy would not detract from Turkey's rights stemmenig from the 1960 treaties.

The Turkish Cypriot side which insists on maintaining and continuning the quarantorship of Turkey .Greece and the Great Britain also wants the permanent presence of 650 Turkish and 950 Greek troops as stated in the 1960 consititution .It also wants the continuation of Turkey's unilateral right to intervention which stems from the 1960 treaties.

No! No! No! OXI .. OXI .. OXI

Turks can bugger off and rule over Turkey!

Only RoC citizens to vote in elections; and if there is such a decent Cypriot, with forgivable Turko-Ottoman origins and he stands for elections, I would be prepared to vote for him/her if their policies were acceptable.

NO to antiquarian, unworkable Mickey mouse systems to suit the Anglo-Americans pulling strings over fascist ethnic-cleansing, land-grabbing, Human Rights abusers Turko-Ottomans.

Bloody cheek  ... invading us and ruining our country and now expecting us to give them rule over us with a blessing.

Someone call the EU ....... President Mustafa of the RoC .... not on your Nellie! Throw the blooming lot of them out as their demands are getting more and more absurd.

Sotos .... this has really ruined my ambient mood; nice day out and I come home to this proposition! But thanks for raising my vigilance level ... I was getting too complacent and soft with these Turko-Ottoman invaders ... they are so crafty, the buggers!

Turks, Ottomans, Anatolians, Harems, Troops .... Get Out of Cyprus Now!

I would welcome a T/C as the President of the RoC . On one condition. His unconditional allegiance to the island of Cyprus and all of its people , what his name is is utterly immaterial as far as I'm concerned, Hasan , Mustafa Ahmet or Metin is of no significant importance , what is important is that HE OR SHE is a CYPRIOT first and foremost and has the tenacity required to tell Turkey and Greece to mind their own f ..ing business and that this here President of Cyprus is dedicated to the welfare of the Cypriot people.
I nominate BIRKIBRISLY as the next Cypriot President .

Nope! ... I'm in great spirits .... only hate Turks ... that's a lot less than everybody else, if they were honest.

But you utu .... you have a serious problem with your judgemental, accusatory nature, boy!

Beside you are easily distracted ..... concentrate on the discussion, not the debater!

You should be more like me, don't give a damn about anything, apart from a few well chosen passions :D

Now don't ruin Sotos' thread .... back to your views on the thread, please.

coming back to the discussion, I beleive that Christofias needs to take charge. And I believe that he should push for partition based on 18% - 82% and all British occupied Cyprus to be returned to the RoC. Can we please move on as a peoples? Therefore we wouldn't need to consider rotating anything. Those people who wish to live in democratic country where 1 person equals a vote and have the roight to run for presidency etc, can join the RoC the rest can go live somewhere else.

I agree with everything Humanist has proposed except for ceding any part of Cyprus to you or the Turko-Ottoman invaders from Turkey.

No rewards for Barbarians in this day and age. Don't drag us all backwards into invading and land-grabbing and making our children think such behaviour is acceptable. You are a bad example of humanity!

Nothing, rien, zero, zilch for you Turks. Not one grain of sand from my Island will you take, by such methodology! Piss off! :D

I want you all out who do not support a Free and Democratic united RoC.
