Buy Car In Cyprus

Postby thbyte » Wed Aug 20, 2008 11:29 pm

Hi to you all!
Me and my wife, are moving to Cyprus next week. The company for which I will work has rented an apartment for us. The first thing we want to do is to buy a car. What does this assume? What procedures? Here is the quote of one of the persons with which we have talked:

"With regards to changing of ownership, it is my responsibility to notify the Government of change of ownership and it will require a permanent address for the new owner."

Can you please explain me the part with "permanent address"?

I have also understood that any euro notes which are over 50E are regarded with suspicion. It's hard to believe that any time you want to buy something that costs some thousand euro you have to carry tons of euro notes.

Permanent address is just the address you will be living. And instead of notes why not use credit card or a check?
