Guns stolen from reservists’ homes

LARNACA police were yesterday looking into the theft of three military-issue firearms from the homes of reservists.

In the first case, a 54-year-old resident of the district reported to police that his house had been broken into over the weekend and his light machine-gun stolen.

The army-issue HK11 was stolen along with an empty magazine, police said.

Police were also investigating a report filed by a 53-year-old Larnaca resident that two G3 assault rifles had been stolen from his home.

The man claimed that his house had been broken into at around the same time as the first case, and the thieves stole his and his son’s firearms along with an empty magazine.

It was not the first time army-issue weapons were stolen from the homes of reservists who are all issued with firearms. And despite the army’s repeated warnings to remove the breech bolt from the weapon and store it in separate locations in order to render it unusable, fully operational army-issue weapons continue to be stolen from reservists’ homes.

This is why there should be no guns in homes, what now if the thief is a tc hater and goes on a rampage.

Brother,
Army rifles and other weaponery can be stolen from army barracks and storage rooms too.

In Karaoglanoglou you can buy a pistol gun for USD500.

There is a difference between having 20,000+ millatary machine guns in homes and buying an illegal pistol from the local black market trader.

You can still get illegal rapid-fire guns almost anywhere Bro'. I don't think it's any more likely that a weapon used to murder people will be that of an army reservist.

Remember the Michael Ryan case in the UK where he went on a mad rampage in Hungerford randomly shooting people with an illegal AK47. It can happen anywhere.

I accept what you are saying but imagine how many more incidents would happen if there was say 1 million people in the u.k had there millatary machine guns at home hence the idea behind u.k law that not even pistols allowed in homes.

Ho how silly of us, so that makes everything ok we should all stock guns just in case of war, great way to go about things, leave the arsenal to the army not the people, you and me.

This is a light machine gun...

By contrast, this is a heavy one...

No difference other than the second of the two will slice you in half as it kills you, the first will merely kill you... as you say, neither should really be stored at home.

Brother,

Like I said in previous messages thoase guns when stolen are sold to the mafia. The Mafia use them to kill each other. So its good actually because they clean our society just yesterday they killed a Narcotics merchant in Limassol called "Aravis".

Anyway like I said the biggest fear of every reservist is to have their gun stolen because then they are in trouble with the police and the army authorities

About the "Turk hater" it is not necessary to steal a gun. Most propably he has his own gun, because he is a reservist also.

One last thing:Like I said all guns of reservists were undergone ballistic test.So every bullet going out can be checked under the computer and within 24 hours the one who shoot it be found.

Anyway looking forward fot the day no-one will have guns in Cyprus re kardes. :) :)
