How many TCs and Turks are NOT Racists?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

How many TCs and Turks are NOT Racists?

Postby Sotos » Tue Aug 19, 2008 5:02 am

How many TCs or Turks are not racists and do not support the ethnic cleansing of Greek Cypriots from north Cyprus so they can steal our land and make their own what belongs mostly to us? I think that 99% of TCs and Turks are racist Nazis and support this racist ethnic cleansing!! I can not tolerate such racism against us and so i hate those racist Nazis! The racist TCs / Turks please do not reply in this thread to tell us that you support the racist ethnic cleansing of north Cyprus so you can steal our lands and make it Turkish because you will fill the thread with 100s of posts and the replies from those very few nice Turks and TCs will disappear and everybody will think that all TCs and Turks are racist Nazis which is not true because I am sure almost 1% of them are not!

Perhaps you should think about it from their perspective. From what I understand, Turks regard Greeks as racists and ethnic cleansers because of Crete and the Aegean Sea, plus the territorial claims on European Turkey.

Sotos, I hate to disillusion you, but most Turks are like most Greeks: normal sane people trying to make a living. There has been too much stereotying - on both sides - which vocal minorities exploit. This - sadly - has had the current result of partition on the island of Cyprus. Blame the Turkish militants certainly, but don't omit the Greek militants either...

What happened in Crete and other Greek places happened because the racist Turks didn't want to let the Greeks rule their own lands. It is called revolution. The Greeks just revolted to free themselves and they didn't invade others to kill them and take their lands. I mean maybe they did at the time of Alexander the Great but I don't think any Greek today supports that Greeks should invade Iran or Egypt! But Turks continue to support such things today. Isn't it racist that they want to cleanse us from north Cyprus so they can make it Turkish??? That is like among the most racist things one can do!

And what are you talking about Greece having claims on European Turkey?? Where did you read that? It is the Turks who have claims against Greece in Aegean, and against Cyprus!!

Aegean Sea ?

I have seen this claim a few times on this forum but I can't recall any details given to back it up. Specifically, which islands and when ?

A few historical notes might be in order.

First, following the establishment of the Republic of Turkey, Turkey has not pursued a policy of expansionism. The borders established at Lausanne have been the borders accepted by Turkey. Turkey has expressed no territorial claims over Greece, Bulgaria, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Iraq, or Syria.

Second, there have been border disputes, that is to say disputes over territorial demarcation, most obviously in the Aegean. Invariably these have been the result of lack of clarity over demarcation - a common problem in maritime matters - or of disputed interpretation of demarcation rules. These disputes cannot be put down to reasons of 'expansionism'.

Third, only the question of Cyprus remains exceptional to the above. There are those (in Turkey) who insist that it was a humanitarian intervention permitted under international law and the T. of Guarantee; and there are those (in Turkey) who regard northern Cyprus as an integral part of Turkey. There are also those (in Turkey) who reject either claim. Only the second group could rightly be described as 'expansionist' but it is not a label that describes the other groups' motives.

The problem with your theory and the consideration of the case is that we also could see the World on same way if the neibourgh country of Canada -USA- had the same policy against Canada like Turkey has with Greece and Cyprus.

Is very easy to comment if you are a taxi driver in Brussels or New York when you are speaking about political problems in Israel or Cyprus.

The distance give you the ability to be so sofisticated and present yourself as the peacefull voice in the forum.

As human we have to fully agree with you but as G/cs we have to fight by all means-including this forum- for the basic human right- to decide ourselves what to do with our country.
Union with Afghanistan, Union with USA or Union with Turkey- The decision must be ours-the majority of the Island

Cooperline, there is very little difference between considering north Cyprus as part of Turkey or disguising this same thing by claiming that there is a second "Turkish Republic" in the north part of Cyprus, something which exists exclusively due to their military occupation and is recognized only by themselves. The fact is that both groups want to forcefully make Turkish the north part of Cyprus.

Piratis,
There is a world of difference between the two .... as your frequent reference to international law makes clear. It is one thing in international law to make a land grab and another to make a 'humanitarian intervention' cf. Georgia/Russia/South Ossetia. If this difference didn't hold, why on earth didn't the Turkish government just annexe northern Cyprus and integrate it into the Republic of Turkey ?

This is just a difference of label, not essence. Turks can call the north part of Cyprus as "trnc", "Turkish Cyprus", "part of Turkey" or whatever else they want. This is just a fake label.

The truth is that northern Cyprus is part of Republic of Cyprus which is under the illegal occupation of Turkey.

Even the ECHR recognizes that the occupied areas of Cyprus are directly under the total control of Turkey.
