İceman , for me it doesn't makes sense if it was on 16 August ,it should be celebrated at that they .
holiday seasone should not effect for it . something else might be under this idea . :!: :?: :idea:

don't be paranoid Halil...not everyone takes this National celebration days as serious as Turks do.

What a shame Iceman is now more Turkish than the Anatolian settlers ... :roll:

The London - Zurich Agreements were indeed signed on the 16th August 1960, however, the constitution states that the Independence Day is to be celebrated on the 1st October. I am not sure as to why but I guess it is because 16 August is right in the middle of the summer holiday.
