Diet

Postby Sotos » Sat Aug 16, 2008 3:40 pm

Recently I decided to eat more healthy and lose some weight. I am not fat at all but I want to be more lean. I now eat no sweets, no fast-food, and no fried foods. Any of you had good success with any specific diets? And I am talking about good diets to lose the fat not diets that make you loose muscle and just dehydrate you.

Sotos, drink lots of water and eat eggs or fish as your main protein source.

Phelps, the Olympic multi-champion, eats loads of eggs per day .... he has a fantastic body (ignore the small head and big ears .... nothing can be done about that  )....

That would work but I think I am going to pass. Besides I want to lose 2-3 kilos and not 30!

I do, but there is some fat that covers my lower abs that doesn't want to go away :(

Phelps is professional athlete. His job is to train day and night and burn all those calories he consumes. I heard he takes 12000 calories every day!! Eggs have a lot of cholesterol so I eat only egg whites.

I have gone through this before. That is old-fashioned thinking. Eggs have great cholesterol-lowering capabilities because they contain lecithin.

They lower cholesterol ... not increase it. Eat the whole egg darn it!

What was noticeable when moving to Cyprus was how much fresher vegetables and fruit are. They all tasted better as well. Am told that in the UK now ready prepared microwave meals are very popular..just bung it in the microwave and you have an instant roast etc.

Can't help but wonder how loaded those meals are with preservatives etc. On a trip to the UK a few years back I tried one of them....Yuck..! It was like eating plastic. The taste was...I think the word synthetic describes it.

Family members there wondered what I was complaining about...s'pose they've gotten used to it.

You forgot to add and how much cheaper they are here too Connor - people in the UK are being charged a fortune for their 'fresh' fruit and vegetables! :(

The whole egg is 63% Fat and one third of that is saturated! I don't know if it has somehting that lowers cholesterol in it but for sure it has a lot of cholesterol. So why eat all that cholesterol and then hope it will be lowered by something else on the egg? Better not to eat it and eat just the white which is just 3% fat and has no cholesterol !

Sotos, one thing that works for me is to choose ONE carbohydrate that I eat most of all, which for us GCs means bread, and cut it out of my diet. I do not eat sweets anyway, and do not drink much. Usually it is enough to bring down the kilos in a month. Not having a car and moving around on foot or by bike helps too. Cars are harmful to your figure.
