A look back through history would probably reveal which country/countries have done the most damage to Cyprus over the years.
To suggest it would only take one word from the US to recognise the 'TRNC', which would essentially be a violation of international law, and to be a supporter of a country that would do that, is a bit warped.
Essentially what you're saying is everyone should toe the US line, because they are allowed to do anything they want. That's not superpower, its empire.

Miltiades,

such idle threats don't wash with me. If they could have recognised them, they would have after 34 years like Turkys arse, so to tell me now we either do as they say or get shafted, well mate, I think you have too much Yankee doodle on the brain.

Na gamithousi H Americani, for it is them that have caused us these problems on the first place.

The bloody Greek stupid junta , the " ELLAS ELLINON XRISTIANON " bullshitters who terrorised the Greeks of Greece were responsible not the bloody Americans . The Greeks have blamed all their ills on America , O americanos afto , o Americanos ftei , Americaniko daxtilo , all these bullshit , well mate here is one G/C who sees further than his nose and tells it as it is. We fucked up , dont blame the Yanks , our arses were exposed to Turkey by the Greek junta and the idiots who still wanted fucking Enosis with the peasantry of Greece , in a way just as some T/Cs of today want Enosis with the Anatolian peasants !!

What exactly did we have, that we "fucked up"?

If we had the perfect set up, a self-determining Democratic, fair constitution, and then we fucked up .... we should be crying and kicking ourselves.

But we did not . We had a mess, nothing to cry about.

We had an imperfect system that did not suit us because it was unfair and undemocratic and probably racist. So we tried to improve it

But the bullies would not let us.

So now we are in a continuation of that mess. But we were in a mess before. So it does not matter. Mess A or Mess B ..... We still just need to focus on correcting that initial wrong ..... Once we have the perfect set-up .... then we should guard it and not lose it ... but what we had before was the Mickey Mouse leftovers of the Anglo-Americans ... so who cares

miltiades I am not sure what it is with you and the Americans. They may have a lot of words over a lot of issues but this ain't gonna happen. Where;s Britain gonna send her retirees. They are a burden on the system and the UK wants them out. well Cyprus is it. EU wants Cyprus because of the benefits it will bring to the EU wont let it happen.

I second Pantheman on this one.

The US governemnt is the most unethical in the world. They chhose where to stand in because of their selfish interests.

O, the 1959 Zurich agreements were not the perfect " HELENIC " goal but were nevertheless the first in our long history that afforded us that precious gift of being able to govern our selves regardless of how inexperienced and novices at governing of our own destiny we might have been.
We messed up badly by not giving enough time for ironing out " indiscrepancies "and from day one we begun telling the world that the agreements were signed under duress and pressure mainly from Greece , ( that the agreements gave the T/Cs excessive rights with the flimsy excuse of safeguarding their rights ) who clearly wanted to wash her hands from the Cypriot "donkeys " a description often used for the Cypriot people by the disputed descendants of the ancient Greeks. We became infatuated with this absurd notion that we were not Cypriots but Greeks and any non Greeks amongst us ought to be oblitarated , removed fro the Helenic shores of Cyprus , Aman re , ouxi Kiprios ala Kalamaras !!
Thankfully some of us , the true Cypriots , are becoming vociferous and demanding that our rights as Cypriots are considered and further more we are willing and determined to stand up and call upon the motherland fuckers to piss off and go join their respective motherlands . I do not for a second see Kikapu , Birkibrisly , Halil , Iceman and many more as my enemies because they are T/Cs . I see them as my compatriots , just as they see me as one of them , a Cypriot who can stand on his own feet and tell Greece and Turkey to get lost and let us sort our problems out .

When you say "we" miltiades, i think all of us are just as stupid and to blame; all for different reasons. But the lesson is learned, we hope, and the resolve of the two leaders to find a definative Solution is near at hand.

...putin did say, a few months ago that he'd create a Cyprus Solution in Georgia; an act compared to Hitler, but learned from the Turks. (and what about Milosevic?).

without this resolution, it will be more of the same.
