TRNC MARKS THE 34TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE SECOND LEG OF THE TURKISH PEACE OPERATION
A series of events are taking place in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to mark the 34th anniversary of the second leg of 1974’s Turkish Peace Operation in Cyprus.
Following the first leg of the peace operation, several more Turkish Cypriot villages facing violent attacks by Greek Cypriots were freed during the second leg.
Various events have been organized to mark the anniversary in Serdarli, Taskent, Gazimagusa and Lefke which were among the regions freed.
Today, martyrs who fell in Murataga, Sandallar and Atlilar- where mass killings took place, were commemorated with various ceremonies.
And tomorrow, it will be Gazimagusa, Lefke and Taskent’s turn to celebrate their liberation.
In Lefke, celebrations will reach the climax with a special festival to take place at the Open Bazaar.
