ILLEGAL FISHING BY TURKISH SHIPS IN CYPRUS

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Main_Source » Mon May 09, 2005 3:27 pm

mean look at "Dortyol" an entire village made up of settlers who had nothing, just came with the 'shalvar' on their arse and we gave them land and homes for what, the pretty smile on their faces and there are many places like this and us TC dare not venture into these villages, i wonder why.

Brother, so nobody can tell me im jumping to conclusions....can you tell me why TC can't go into these villages?

It would be like a sucide mission, it is openly known that the tc do not like settlers and vice versa hence they do not welcome us into the village and if we did and had an arguement with one of them all of them would jump in and beat us to death.

What the ... bro? I have never witnessed Turkish settlers beating Turkish Cypriots to death. It is true that many T.C dislike these people, but there have never been serious problems between both sides.

Come on, this is way exagerrated. Yes, settlers are more into violence and all but it's not true that they don't welcome us into their villages and they'll beat us to death.

O.k maybe the beating to death slightly over the top but we are not welcome in their villages and they are very uncivilised and violent which you all agree to but the only reason not many tc dead is because we do not venture into those villages but guys feel free to prove me wrong and take a visit to one so called village like that and see what its like.

I've actually been to the north wearing a Greek flag T-shirt (no EURO 2004 stuff, the plain one that Rouvas was wearing in the Eurovision thing). Apart from the odd look here and there, no one seemed to mind.

You are being very dramatic brother, although I agree on the whole we do not mix, you must agree that there has not been any major problems with the settlers. Please dont class them all the same the early settlers have adapted into our society and talk like us, work with us, mix socially with us, we dont have problems with them. The village settlers are more set in their ways but arent all village folk. If there was a solution I feel these people eligable to stay would not be any cause for concern.

I did visit such villages last summer and I pass through such villages when I'm in Cyprus (I like to travel through villages when I go to Cyprus) and I never encountered anything like you mentioned. Yes, settlers are more violent than TCs in general but they're not waiting TCs with guns in their hands...I don't think that they have inherent hatred towards TCs. They probably feel excluded and humiliated by TCs which happens a lot in the north and there might be some anger as a result but that's it.
