So you want the truth about Akritas…

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

I still cannot find that anywhere in the Akritas plan (http://www.cyprus-conflict.net/akritas_plan.htm ) Reading over it though I must say who ever wrote this plan was suffering from severe bipolarity and psychosis!

The writers keep insisting that they must influence international opinion because that is the only way the can "win." and they stress the importance of international law and the United Nations throughout the plan. Of course:

In the event of instinctive violent Turkish reactions, if our counter-attacks are not immediate, we run the risk effacing panic in the Greeks in the towns and thus losing substantial vital areas, while, on the other hand, an immediate show of our strength may bring the Turks to their senses and confine their actions to sporadic insignificant acts

LoL. Bring the Turks to their senses. They're almost as funny as you Viewpoint.

magikthrill as usual you have your facts all mixed up, Viewpoint did not write
I have never heard of another state in the world where the president and half the members of his government set up an armed group with the intention of dissolving their own state.

or
On December 23, 1963 ‘Akritas’ went into action. Blood of the young was shed in abundance on both sides. The foundation stones for partition had been laid. Today, 42 years on, the one state has become two. This is the big achievement of Papadopoulos and his friends.

Now that you have read the akritas plan and heard the statements by tassos that no tc was killed and the famous lie concerning the SG, you finally understand that this plan has all the makings of that nut case and physcotic tassos written all over it.

I dunno brother. I am not quick to make any judgements on the guy. I must say before the whole thing abotu Tassos not making any suggestions to the Annan plan from the many biased sources posted on this forum I was more than eager to see him be executed (can I say that without getting arrested??)

However, after reading his letter to the SG my opinion of him has moved back to neutral. Also, the more negative stuff I read about him here the less I am willing to believe in it, although some of it may actually be true.

Which brings me to two requests from you:
1) do you have any other source aside from that single one that T-Pap stated no TCs were killed during the intercommunal vioelnce
2) any other sources of his involvement in the Akritas PLan. I definitely see this possible since all the nut jobs back then were driven by the mob mentality but I would like to find a source better than the author of this article who has made many misleading comments.

Yeah, can we have the actual article/interview where Papadopolous said no TC was killed between 63-74 and what context it was written in. Is this from the same source that told us that Turkish Cypriots are currently not allowed to vote in the RoC?

Main-source i thought we resolved that one about voting, the tc are still not allowed to vote in the south and this is a fact that you can personally check without relying on secound hand info. by calling the ROC's appropriate dept. about voting and hear it for yourself, pretend to be a tc if it helps and you will have no doubts.

Magikthrill, the articles you want have been posted on the forum before but if i can find them i will post them for you and maybe some other members might have links too and help out with links to the sights with the articles.

This month alone, two books were writen that include the sorry matter of Akritas Plan and the involvement in it of Tassos Papadopoulos. First, a book by Niazi Kizilurek in Turkish and secondly a book by Makarios Droushiotis in Greek. Droushiotis's book is titled "first partition" symbolically named to pinpoint the fact that partition did not really happen in 1974 or indeed in 2004 but rather it was consolidated, cemented if you like, in the 60's due to the reign of terror of fascist paramilitary organisations in both communities that aimed at strungling the young republic before it managed to stand on its own two feet. The organisation in the Greek side was "Akritas" and Papadopoulos was its vice leader. The infamous Yiorgatzis was the leader. What is really upsetting in this sorry affair is that "Akritas" was government sponsored that is, it was not only endorsed by Makarios but funds were poured in for the purchasing of the "means" to clean up the TC community. The Plan was not just in response to TMT but of course was there to ensure that the eons-long aspiration (enosis) was to be realised at long last. The TMT could have easily been dealt with in a way that would unite even the TC community against it. But, instead, the actions of the Akritas murderers pushed the masses of the TC's into the open arms of TMT for protection.

From Khaleej Times

Galadari: Turkish Cypriots said, after the independence and before the Turkish troops came, within 11 years, lots of massacres had occurred. When the Turkish troops came, they saved them from further violence, and if they hadn’t come, all of them might have been killed?

Papadopoulos: They say that and claim that the Turkish troops protected them.

Galadari: The Turkish Cypriots say that Mr Papadopoulos is a hard liner.

Papadopoulos: From the beginning, they were planning for a separation. But, in fact, the Turkish Cypriots were the ones who committed massacres and in 1963 we asked to increase the police patrols, but they refused. From 1963 to 1974, how many Turkish Cypriots were killed? The answer is, none.

TMT were killing Turkish Cypriots simply because they were against taksim. If we showed passion to the TC community and not scare them off with our enosis wild dreams then TMT would find no grounds to exist. Instead, the paramilitary fascist of Akritas embark on a killing sprey of innocent TC's (erolz's uncle for example) making it easy for TMT to recruit members.
