We brought a dog and 2 cats prior to Cyprus becoming part of the EU and were allowed Home Quarantine. However, now we are part of the EU I believe the rules and regs have changed somewhat. I understand that animals coming in are under the Pet Passport regime.

Although it cost us extra, we used Paphiakos to help us arrange the paperwork, mainly because our pets were coming in through Larnaca and us via Paphos airports.

It may be different for USA though so you would be better to contact the Government Vet for whichever district you will be entering into Cyprus and possibly where you aim to become a resident of. Unfortunately, you may find that as it is August, the government offices may be on skeleton staff just now.

Yes I posted it on my very first post with a full explanation ... (before the tread got side tracked with hearsay). So they should have definitely seen it as they posted after.

Maybe you ignored the sensible, early posts and went in straight for the colourful exchanges .... it's only Human nature

Thanks for the info guys.

I did not know that one question could start a raging war between a couple of people on this forum.

After reading through some other thread though, I see that this is very frequent. :) The Cypriot temperament and mentality! I guess I am going to have to get used to that again

Just trying to make sure no one is misled by the anti-Cyprus brigade

Are you going to get pet passports for the cats?

Yeah,

I will have to get them the microchips. They already have all the vaccines but I will have to go to the vet for the blood tests etc. Hopefully everything will go smoothly and I will avoid the quarantine.

The link had all the info I needed. Thanks again!

Hi,

I have the same problem, just not from the US, but from the EU. Do you maybe know about the regulations in this case?
The only thing I dont want is the quarantine..

thx

chrsts wrote:Hey guys,

I want to bring my cats to Cyprus from the US. I 've been reading on the regulations and vaccinations required.

My cats have all their vaccines. I read that all pets have to have a microchip implant for identification. Is this right?
Did anybody else bring pets from the US? If anybody can give me advise on what is really needed (I know cypriots do not follow all rules all the time) and experiences i would appreciate it.

Also, if you have any recommendations for pet travel agencies in NY.

Thank you!!!
