We brought a dog both from and to the UK and whilst I would say the UK were blase about the total comfort of the pet leaving the UK the Cypriots were in your face as to the exact size of the carry-case for comfort; both when booking and inspected most thoroughly before going on the plane.

Quarantine inspections on arrival are thorough too. You have to let the Ministry know you are bringing a pet into the country by e-mail 48-72 hours beforehand. You are met by a Vet who checks the microchip and all the documents and gives you forms which may not apply in your case for cats :? (dogs have to undergo a series of registrajavascript:emoticon('')
Rolling Eyestions).

If you want to use the Pet travel scheme to avoid quarantine, you must first have the pet micro-chipped followed by a Rabies jab. Then a month later the vet has to do a blood test to confirm immunity to rabies. You need a clear six months between the rabies jab and being allowed to enter the country (without facing quarantine).

Then 24-48hrs before departure, you have to have tick/worm treatments, and a full vets health assessment for travel.

Everything has to be confirmed with the microchip and recorded in the passport.

Otherwise I think it's the full 6 months quarantine for the pussy cats.

This might help ....

VET? NO, Customs official YES. He/she carries out the microchip inspection etc and he/she will also want paying. Depending on the time of day (overtime?) and the number of stripes the official has, the higher the cost!

Oracle wrote:What rubbish .... we did not have to pay anything.

Maybe you failed to give them advance warning. As I said you have to e-mail them 48 to 72 hours before landing.

SSBubbles wrote:Excuse me, but it is most certainly not rubbish. You do have to pay for your Customs official! (It may well have been included in your total, but pay you must!)

There was no TOTAL ... because there was no fee!

So how much exactly did you pay per stripe?

So O, you transported your dog over gratis?

Believe me there are fees to pay and I will repeat it for you loudly as you are not listening!
You have to pay Customs - get it!
You of course are the exception to every rule going on this island as nothing untoward ever happens to you as it does to people everyday of every week!

Go out and enjoy yourself today sister

But Bubbles you said you had to pay according to the number of stripes the official has and whether he is on overtime, at the final stage, to let the dog in after they check the microchip.

To me that sounds like you are making out Cyprus is some unregulated banana republic ... That would be fine if that were true, but once again I think it is you who is the Banana-Brain Bubbles and not Cyprus.

So once again I ask, please qualify what you said .....

How much did you have to pay Bubbles, to the Cypriot Official to let your dog into Cyprus ...

And how much was that per stripe?

Remember people might be misled by your casual mis-information Bubbles, and be caused some undue stress that some high-ranking, poly-striped Official may check little Fido's microchip and want thousands of Euros before letting the little pouch out through those last doors ...

Well that was precisely what I said to the OP

Oracle wrote:Best thing, ask your vet.

.... before somebody decided to add some misinformation in her anti-Cypriot campaign.

It's so costly to transport pets by airlines, that most people have to be sure they can afford this venture ... so to have someone like Bubbles come in and casually throw in a remark that you have to pay some unknown quantity to some Cypriot Official depending on the time of day and depending on the number of stripes is bound to worry some people and may deter them unnecessarily.

Oracle, read for the last time!

Where did you read that I had to pay?
Just because YOU did not get charged (for whatever reason) does not mean there is NO charge! Sound like YOU ARE DOING THE MISLEADING!
Take my post the wrong way - I expected you too, that is your way, if it does not suit you and yours, forget it.

Believe me, there is a cost - and itjavascript:emoticon('')
Rolling Eyes definitely does count on the number of stripes the official has! I will contact my friend at the airport and post the costs as and when I can. Does that please you, your highness?

Sick bag - quick..............................

See, I was talking about personal experience and how I know the system functions having used it twice within the last 8 months .... and you had to contradict me with your profound knowledge on the subject.

You have since not managed to back up what you said.

How much per stripe Bubbles?

Why do you now have to ask a friend?

Were you not talking from personal experience about these stripes and overtime payments to Officials?

Were you just passing on gossip?

Were you in fact just making stuff up, off the top of your head, negligently or deliberately, because what the heck, it's only Cyprus you're defaming

Now apologise for your error (not that you have ever done such a thing in the many times you should have done before) and please avoid passing on your silly gossip from your "friend"! :!:

Oracle sweetie,

I WILL REPEAT FOR YOUR VERY OLD AND OBVIOUSLY DEAF EARS - Where did I ever write that I had paid?

I will repeat that you DO have to pay - not gossip, fact!

Just because you say YOU did not pay, we have to take this as gospel?

I am not putting Cyprus down which is your obvious ploy to others, just trying to help another forumer.

Now my advice to you is 'get a life'!
