I would have had better luck figuring out what "βαως" means if DT had provided a sentence like "Βάως την πόρταν", because you pretty much expect it to mean "κλείσε", "άνοιξε" or something similar in that context. You then eliminate the words less likely to be related to the unknown verb and you have good chances of finding the answer

Βαως την μασελα σου=κλείσε το στόμα σου
Βαως την πορταν=κλείσε τη πόρτα
or whatever its the same...it means close it

You are right. True is more like it stuck...but not exactly as it stuck. In Paphos area where my mum come from its use and as "εκουρατζισεν τα κατσαρα τζιαι εχταρεν το αυτοκίνητο" which is not like it stuck "σφήνωσε" as you said but more like εντζισεν. I guess it difficult to explain it exactly in English but we all Cypriot understand each other.
