Yes, I was ripped off in Cyprus. There is no way the bottle of champagne I bought that dancer in Larnaca was really worth 150 pounds.

Yes, BIGTIME.

28 Euros for pint and half of Keo. 4 shots of vodka and two cans of Red Bull. This was in the bar is Pissouri that has the pool table. Disgrace!

I was once caught in a freak summer downpour in the centre of Limassol and hailed a passing taxi to take me half a mile down the road to my destination. When we got there, the taxi driver - obviously thinking I was a wide-eyed tourist - told me that minimum taxi fare in Limassol was five pounds (this was in pre-euro days). I immediately told him in no uncertain terms that was not the case, and refused to pay. I told him to call the police. A shouting match ensued and he eventually just told me to **** off without paying anything.
Ripped off - no. But a nice try.

Let me see .... £2,500 per year to get my bins emptied ONCE per week in the UK.

280 Euros per year to get my bins emptied THREE times per week in Cyprus ....

(and I don't generate more rubbish in the UK than Cyprus  , though the over-packaging is still disgraceful at Sainsbury's  ).

So far .... the answer is a big OXI (NO) ..... I have not been ripped off in Cyprus!
