HAVE YOU BEEN RIPPED OFF IN CYPRUS?

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

I don't think anyone is been ripped off, the exchange rate has just made things more expensive for the two week tourist. Cyprus has always attracted the British budget tourist and has concentrated on that particular part of the market.
Times have changed, prices are continuing to rise and the budget tourist is going elsewhere, next year will be the litmus test.

Taxi drivers demanding 50 euros from Alexander The Great to Tala not a rip off you must be joking.
I refused to pay and went back to the car hire company who ordered a taxi for me; the price 12 Euros.
Everyone who gets into a taxi is ripped off because they don't use the metre.

Sorry to hear that. I suppose taxi drivers the world over try and get a few extra notes especially from the tourist.
Genrally though Cyprus is all above board, with very little ripping off going on.

Cyprus has and always has had a two and even three tier pricing system,
Cyprioy, ex pat and tourist.
We went for a meal with Cypriot friends; I offered to pay, they insisted in paying saying that if they paid it would be the Cypriot price; if we paid it would be more expensive.
Not only is that rip off but also racist, if we operated such a system in the UK the commission for racial equality would be down on us like a ton of bricks.

Yeah your right, if we were racist like them we would prob be named & shamed in the uk. I mean a point was put across the other day at my uni when these two Cypriots walked up to us and shouted out "ma eisastin Kupray and my mates turned and laughed and said Oi eimastin pello englezie Charlies!! Kai esies eisatin pelo Kupray lol I think they get the message that two can play that game but it was very very harsh and out of order.
