Have just been told that, because my developer has ceased Trading - although not yet offically bancrupt - to get my long awaited Title Deeds, I will have to pay the Banks - who are organising a Rescue Package, €25,000 to pay off HIS debts, even though neither I nor anyone else has a mortgage on my property. This is in addition to the property Transfer Tax i will have to pay, of course.

So, not ripped off, but certainly not protected by the inadequate Property Laws here.

Doesn't sound like much of a rescue!

A lead filled life-belt?

Are the banks at least going to give you a long-term low-interest personal loan (not a mortgage) for what you will have to pay them?

Every one of you that is posting here from Cyprus is being ripped off. The price of internet access out here is ridiculous.

Regarding the Rescue Package, I referred to earlier, the only people being rescued are.... the Banks! I will have more details late Monday.

The UK , is way ahead of Cyprus when it comes to ripping people off .
The entire nation is engaged in fiddling , starting from the Right Honourable Members of HM Government ,
Councils up and down the country ripping everyone off , soon they will introduce a penalty charge if your rubbish bin is full to the brim , they do so already in some parts of London .
Traffic regulations that are designed to rip the motorist off , nothing what so ever to do with the flow of the traffic.
It is pleasing however that Westminster Council , looking after Central London , have banned vehicle clamping and vehicle removal as from 27th June 08 !! Now all the private removal trucks are concentrated in other parts of London each jostling for " business " , it costs £350.00 to have your car released.
Business rates are at an all time high , in return what does the council give back in return ? Nothing.
They have the audacity to demand a fee for using the pavement outside your business when receiving goods into the shop. They pass by with cameras and photograph goods in transit from pavement to shop and then claim that you are engaged in street trading !! A bunch of crooks !
In all there is so much corruption right here in the UK , it makes Cyprus look squeeky clean !

280 Euros per year to get my bins emptied THREE times per week in Cyprus ....

(and I don't generate more rubbish in the UK than Cyprus  , though the over-packaging is still disgraceful at Sainsbury's  ).

So far .... the answer is a big OXI (NO) ..... I have not been ripped off in Cyprus!

Oracle you must be very rich or very foolish for paying privately for having your bins emptied Or is that you are refering to council tax for which refuse collections account for a tiny part. If it is the second read the information which accompanies council tax bills.

Methinks you actually realise that bin collections don't cost what you state but as usual you are distorting the truth.
