I must admit, that I understood it also when I first read it, that Bananiot meant that the money went to Pappadopoulos's wife, and what made it even worse for me to understand what Bananiot meant, was the fact that I did not know, that Photini was also a leader of a charity organization.

This is what Bananiot said.

I guess the explanation mark at the end of the sentence was designed to fill in the missing information for someone like me.
