Can anyone tell me what Pissouri is like. We have booked a two week holiday there, we want to chill for two weeks. We were in the Corallia Bay area of Paphos in early June and it was very expensive. Can someone tell me it is is as expensive in Pissouri compared to Corallia Bay area of Paphos.

There are not many places in Cyprus where you can still find a bargain, however, you should find Pissouri a little less harsh on the wallett/purse - providing your not staying at the Columbia!

Pissouri is a very dangerous place with shark infested waters, dangerous currents, high seismic activity... on the living standards side this place is becoming a well known chav destination with last year's statistic showing a huge hike in reported crimes including rape, break-ins and vandalism. The Columbia hotel/resort were sold to Thomson by the owner of Columbia shipping management due to declining arrivals of quality tourists. Thomson plans to pack both hotels with full inclusive package tours, this step will close down all already struggling nearby taverns, pubs etc.

In spring earlier this year another disaster struck Pissouri: invasion of several types of Ichneumonid wasps... these small insects destroyed majority of Olive plantations and there were few reported cases of these parasites planting eggs under human skin.

Once Pissouri was one of the best destinations in Cyprus, unfortunately this place will soon be a ghost town as its population is on a rapid decline for almost 18 months now.

I think you are forgetting several things Raym.

Club 18-30 have just opened a new office in Pissouri Bay as Ayia Napa is now a thing of the past.

4 Nightclubs are due to open within the next 6 months which will see revellers from all over Europe flock to see ex con's/smack heads DJ'ing (part of their rehab).

Your right about the Columbia, it has been sold. However, a small part of it is still owned by the Columbian Government who will use the basement as a hub for their drug inport/export as Cyprus is located in a perfect position to trade within Europe and the Middle East.

Have you also heard about the Taliban training camp in Pissouri? Location undisclosed. There has been sighting of Osama Bin Laden dining at the Vraka restuarant enjoying a Mousaka one evening.
