long term stay

Postby snowfairy » Fri Aug 01, 2008 7:09 pm

hi everyone. Just hoping for some advice really.
Hoping to come to Cyprus and have a stay long term to see if it is a good choice.
I know for myself there is no doubt but after the recent death of our mum, my two down's syndrome sisters age 42 and 29 have come to live with my husband and myself.
we had however always said that when our own sons were old enough to cope alone that we would make the move to settle in Cyprus.
We laways knew as well that we respect the people too much that we didnt want to be dependant on jobs, so we deviced a plan that I would come out with the girls and find a long term rent and that my husband, having our own business, would come out every few weeks.
This way we would be self sufficient.
I am however just having a few uncertainties about how to go about the move with as little disruption as possible.
If only I could get a olane out and walk into some property agents and get the keys, voila, but even I know that isnt going to happen.
Any advice would be gratefully recieved.
I so want this to happen and so does my hubby and the curlies (my sisters). Just to say as well that they are the most well behaved and quiet girls that you could wish to meet. After a few minites in anyone's company they will see that. They are also healthy and have no more problems than us normal girls. Just totally dependant on whoever is caring for them to keep them safe and secure.
Sorry for the essay.
Belinda.

Hi Belinda
May I firstly wish you every good luck in life. One down's syndrome sister to cafe for would be hard work but two must make you a virtual saint.
Secondly, there are agents around who use this forum and maybe moreso some of the other Cyprus forums who may help. Have you any idea whereabouts you may want to rent?

thank you for the kind words.
They really are wonderful to be around though, so the halo isn't needed too much. lol
We were thinking Larnaca side as that is where we liked the most when we visited but not a real problem. The whole island is stunning.
Just as long as I can get out and about to restock on food as I don't drive,
then I don't see a problem.
My only insistance though is that we have a pool. For the Curlies, :D of course.
Thank you

I have a friend who lives in Kiti which is very close to Larnaca. I'll ask her what she thinks.
How many bedrooms?

I don't live in Cyprus at the moment no but may do sometime. I have 2 flats near to Larnaca and really like it there.
I've sent you a private message that you may find helpful.

I have just looked at them and was about to ask my boys how to reply and to say thank you by pm.
You are so helpful.
I have never stayed in Larnaka but we did drive through.
It is georgeous. No need to tell you that though.
Maybe if we need to stay somewhere and you have vacancies I can get in touch.
Thank you.
I have never used a forum before so forgive me if I am being too formal or forward even.
Belinda.

Not at all.
My flats only have 1 bedroom each I'm afraid and one is rented out and after September the other will be so full of furniture itll be difficult to even get through the door.
I'm hoping to go over in about 4-5 weeks to sort a few things out.
