Need trading standards, anyone know where they are?

Postby cyprico » Tue Jul 29, 2008 10:59 pm

Hello all. Went into Kleima today, they advertised coke cola £3.37 for 24 cans if you spend over 30Euro, we did we spent 84Euro and put 6x24 cans in the trolley.

We also asked if it was ok to do that, the assistant went away came back and said " spend another 25c and you can have what you want " so my daughters added another 2 x 24.

With that a women came out of the office and said no put it all back!!
we asked why? she said your only allowed 1 x 24, we told her where is it on the leaflet that states one per customer, she got so irate she threw the leaflet at my daughter and said you don't like it get out.

My daughter explained, that the other girl said we could take what we wanted as it wasnt stated on the leaflet about how we could take.
I spoke to the manager about trading standards he laughed and said we don't have in Cyprus, there is nothing you can do.

So we refused to buy anything from them and walked out.

How the staff can talk to customers like this is beyond me, in the Uk she would have been arrested for assault, throwng the leaflet at my daughter and screaming at her, sorry my greek isnt good enough to translate what she was saying, but it was bad as the staff was opened mouthed.

Trading standards

Postby cyprico » Wed Jul 30, 2008 12:17 am

They do it all the time, I have had problems with them before, they just say sorry thats the way it is.

But today really shocked me the way the lady screamed at my daughter and threw the leaflet at her.

Cyprus entered the EU so they should start using the same code of conduct as all other EU countries, not just laugh and say " nothing you can do "

I'm sure I read in one of the free magazines that there is an Ombudsman, trading standards office in Cyprus?

Thank you Z4, I know what you mean, but if we all keep thinking along these lines then they will keep getting away with it. The thing is Cypriots are so nice and laid back they let these big companies get away with it, I won't on principle.

Goodnight all, KalaNeekta.
