Car Insurance in Cyprus

Postby thbyte » Mon Jul 28, 2008 4:10 pm

Hi to you all!
I'm moving next month to Cyprus and I would like to know what papers are required for a car insurance. I'm asking this because I moving there with my girlfriend and she won't have a job at the begining. Will she be able to buy a car and have a car insurance? I don't have a driving license so I'm relling on her.

Absolutely no problem in buying a car or getting insurance ~ there's certainly no shortage of car dealers or insurance companies to chose from.

Get confirmation of any no claims discount your girlfriend gets from her present UK insurer as they will probably honour it in Cyprus so that may make the premiums a little cheaper .

You will need her passport and insurance cert when changing over ownership when you have bought a car ~ if buying from a dealer they will usually do the changeover for you but they will still need her passport (they will take a copy) and insurance cert

Thanks Bill,
So it doesn't count if she's going to have a job or not. So she can buy a car any time and also she can get an insurance for.

P.S: We are not from UK :D, we are from Romania.

That is correct. If you have the money, buy the car. Doesn't matter about a job. Ditto about insurance.

When I lived in Cyprus I got the insurance from the dealer, had one old and one new vehicle and the insurance was quite reasonable compared to UK

I supose it depends on the car but in all honesty I find car insurance here much cheaper than the UK
