I am NOT cursing!! It's meaning in Turkish is "to have the guts (to do something)". Which is in line with what I already said of what our stance towards the Americans should be. You took it literally man...

Land

Postby negotiator » Mon May 16, 2005 1:43 am

Right lets clear something up here! There is a question as to who's land is what. This has a risen from when Britain de colonised the country back in the 60s. Now they had the land under an agreement with the Ottoman Empire to enable them to have a base close to the Middle East, which is still the case. When the Ottoman empire collapse Britain retain the island, then left in the 60s and created a joint rule government of a Greek President and a Turkish Cypriot PM, this did not wk as GC wanted to join the country with Greece as they saw it as their right of heritage back to the days of Alexandria the Great. Now if this was the case then surley most of Europe and the Middle East should also return to Greece on this stance! This is totaly unrealistic and a naive view of the Modern World, we need to Move On and look to the Future and create 2 equal reconised states for each side.

It is crystal clear whose land it is. The Ottoman empire occupied several nations. Are you going to claim the whole middle east, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania etc now as well?

Of course some people like you find it perfectly natural to steal what others have created. It is about time to leave your Ottoman mentality behind, and move on to something more civilized.

Excuse me more Civilised? Then why do you not move on then and stop quoting the past. Why do those of Greek orgin have anymore rights than those of Turkish. How can you claim me should forget our hertiage when that is what you quote! We are not asking for the whole Island we are asking for either unity or independance. Rather than a state of disilusionment that we currently have

Negotiator,

You seem to be contradicting yourself over sever threads.

Do you want a united Cyprus or two states in Cyprus?

Turkey had no right to take 36% of the island and give it to you. If that is what you want then you'd better be prepared to pay for it to the tune of billions of dollars.

I am not contradicting myself at all. Turkey do not want the Island!! They want to ensure Turkish Cypriot safety. Once that has been agreed and A turkish Cypriot government either unified with the south or standalone is reconised then they will have no hold over it. TC what to be seen as TC and not an arm of turkey or an illegal state as we are refered to.

The occupation is present, not past.

Why do those of Greek orgin have anymore rights than those of Turkish.

Who said that?? The TCs are the ones that want to have more rights than GCs and not the other way around.

How can you claim me should forget our hertiage when that is what you quote

I didn't say you should forget your heritage. Progressing is something good for everybody though.

We are not asking for the whole Island we are asking for either unity or independance.

You are asking for more than what the 18% of TCs own.

(and by "you" I mean your leadership. I don't know what you personally want exactly)

Yes but why is there only 18% TC there they had to flee because of the circumstances they have been subjected to. If we had the freedom of trade and live as GC have had we would have a higher more prductive population. We have been supressed and squeezed like lemons for the past 40 years! It is now time that we are able to live freely and fairly!
