i would rather be considered a criminal than someone who stays at home all the time, only looking after "my own kind" and never getting out to volunteer and do community service, making this world a better place to live.

GG I am a member of a group of people who are rigoursly checked by the British Home Office against Police records worldwide. I am cleaner than clean, whiter than white.
So no I have never jaywalked for fear of losing my livelyhood and my untarnished reputation. I do however pass the occassional fart, but never in polite company.
On community service, I spent four years voluntry service in a Secure Unit for young people, I met and worked with some of the most troublesome young people the UK has to offer. I also spend alot of time helping a school in Mombassa Kenya, maybe along way from home, but these kids are lucky if they have life, never mind a pencil

purdy, your life is too pure and no fun at all!
although i may not go through police checks, i have keys to approximately 75 houses in my community and am trusted to take care of their pets. bad news spreads like wildfire, and one major screw up, and i am on the dole. with those keys comees alot of responabilites. and i don't purposly break the law, but we all are human, and i have been known to jay walk, or go over the speenlimit, or (GASP!) something worse!

i did not mean to insinuate that you did not do community service....if you look back, i started a thread once asking the forum members about what they do for community service, and the cypriots basically said nothing.

I have my fun GG, maybe a little too clean for some but we are all different. I have no doubt you are a trust worthy person, and take no offence from anything you say or have said.

In that case then, maybe 99% of all adults in America are criminals because they either were making too much noise and broke a sound ordinance, did not mow their lawn before it got too long for the local ordinance, did not report ALL their taxable income including their kid's lemonade stand receipts, or were speeding in their cars at one point, etc.

In the eyes of the law, we are ALL criminals at one point in this country of the United States.

No one is justifying anything, but the stupidity or injustification of a law may mitigate or in some cases negate it's enforecment. For instance it is illegal to have oral sex with your wife in many states here, but who obeys that law and anyone caught doing that with their wife in private would be convicted?

In order for me to surrender my civil right to own and posses a firearm I have to commit and be convicted of a felony or a violent misdemeanor. Speeding and other minor criminal offenses are not disqualifying crimes.
