So no I have never jaywalked for fear of losing my livelyhood and my untarnished reputation. I do however pass the occassional fart, but never in polite company.
On community service, I spent four years voluntry service in a Secure Unit for young people, I met and worked with some of the most troublesome young people the UK has to offer. I also spend alot of time helping a school in Mombassa Kenya, maybe along way from home, but these kids are lucky if they have life, never mind a pencil
In that case then, maybe 99% of all adults in America are criminals because they either were making too much noise and broke a sound ordinance, did not mow their lawn before it got too long for the local ordinance, did not report ALL their taxable income including their kid's lemonade stand receipts, or were speeding in their cars at one point, etc.purdey wrote:Wether it's stupid or not, and it was broken at one point, does not detract from the fact they are criminals (in the eyes of the law).
No one is justifying anything, but the stupidity or injustification of a law may mitigate or in some cases negate it's enforecment. For instance it is illegal to have oral sex with your wife in many states here, but who obeys that law and anyone caught doing that with their wife in private would be convicted?Feisty wrote:It's amazing how people try to justify what they do by saying the law is stupid.
In order for me to surrender my civil right to own and posses a firearm I have to commit and be convicted of a felony or a violent misdemeanor. Speeding and other minor criminal offenses are not disqualifying crimes.purdey wrote:And he's a firearm owner. I hope you are not one of those stats Novus.
