DT, I understand your stance on 'illegal' property buying. I stand together with you on this, but my understanding of this is that a large number of the RoC Land Registry Title Deeds were in fact stored on a site just outside Kyrenia. (Just past the old Colonial style Hospital). If this is not the case perhaps someone could correct me. Didn't there use to be Land Registry Offices in all towns? If this is true, then original Title Deeds would be available.

The english actually left us with one of the best centralised land registry systems in nicosia. The only municipality that suffers is the free Famagusta area which lost a lot of the documents.

My parents went to the land registry here in Nicosia and found their original deeds for Morphou.

Yes, I have been there many times. There is no excuse now that there are no borders. Any Cypriot who checks the prices of properties can tell from the discrepancy, which is original Titled and which is not. Grek Cyp properties seem to be going for 'peanuts'. More and more people are turning their nose at them.(for obvious reasons).

some of the land measurement companies won't even measure these exchange title properties now. the estate agents are still selling them. two days ago i check out some flats in alsancak, agent says mr talat is the guarrentor of the title, so i asked them where this was written and they couldn't tell me.

Thats why its best to go 'legal'. If it was written, would it be worth the paper it was written on? I dont know either.
