Now you wish you had not mentioned it....

But lately I have become so lazy to do the nifty crack between the teeth and eat the nut inside, that I just chew and swallow the whole lot ... seed pod and all ....

Is this the height of bad manners or do others cheat this way? :?

It just goes to show what an amateur Pasetempo eater you are.!

If you get the ones sold in Turkish shops which are lightly salted and roasted and not the silly white ones that they sell in non Turkish shops, which tends to break and fall apart, you should be able to hold the rounded end with your fingers while you work on the sharp end with your front incisors cracking along the edge of the seed about ten times in the space of 2 seconds, and then with slight pressure on the last crack with your teeth, the seed opens like a clam in which with your tongue, you pull it into your mouth, much like a chameleon with an insect. The whole thing takes few seconds . Eating the shell is likely to give you indigestion if you do too much at one time, so put your tongue into good use and start pulling the kernels out of it's shells.

In the heat of summer that is the right thing to do Oracle. Chew and swallow. They are so nice when heavily roasted. I would eat an okka/oke in a few days. There was no question of High BP those days.
Cracking them open with your teeth can not do the enamel any good for sure. The roughage is good for you too.

I will forgive your absurd suggestion regarding my visiting a Turkish shop  for the imagery created further down.

Perhaps your instructions will find their way onto the back of the packs .... and may increase sales 8)

Solve the problem by buying ready shelled pumpkin seeds. They sell them in Athens, must be available in Cyprus too.

Nikitas you are a philistine and a Fast-Food Junkie ...

Pasatempo exemplifies the slow approach to food (pass the time = passe tempo = pasatempo).

I have tried those from Health Food stores and they give no satisfaction, despite going down fast and easy  ...... and by the calorie-laden handful ...
