Consumer Warning:

Miltiades' apartment is a risk to public health as his bathroom's toilet is nothing more than a hole in the ground...Image

I will be the first to admit that way back in the 50s when I lived in my village the toilet
was indeed just a hole in the ground , just as it was in Athens Syntagma square in 1975 and 1977 when I last had a s..t on Greek ground !!
I gather its all changed now and the provision of toilet paper rather than old newspaper is available !!

Back to my flats now , not only have they got a state of the art toilets but my second flat also has a bidet , and just so that Paphitis understands what a bidet is it is a low-mounted plumbing fixture or type of sink intended for washing the genitalia, inner buttocks, and anus , doubt it whether Australia has any !!!

We have them in Australia too. But we also have toilet paper, which we can flush, instead of placing in a bin, stinking the whole place out.

We can also shower 7 days a week, a luxury in Limassol due to the water restrictions...

The Consumer Warning still stands, as you may have a Bidet, but your toilet is still just a "stat of the art" hole in the ground... Image

It goes to show how little you know about Cyprus. We do not place toilet paper in a bin , the part of Limassol where my flats are situated has underground drains and has had for many years now , so no bins mate just flash it down the toilet.
As for the water shortage let me inform you that it is the drinking water that was short , as far as the water for toilets and bathrooms etc , although economies had to be made , this water water was always available as every block of flats has its own tanks holding large amounts of water.

Another immature and rather childish remark by a pretentious " Cypriot"
Mate we have advanced since the days of your folks in Tsada , Cyprus can boast of all modern facilities including the Bog !!
The bidet is mostly used to wash our ...feet .

Rule of thumb when renting in Cyprus and the UK. Take a decent deposit on the rental agreement, if the renters do a runner or trash the premises you keep the deposit, simple.

I am familiar with that kind of toilet from my time in Turkey. You get used to them surprisingly quickly. In fact, I think I would prefer to have public toilets that way. More hygienic.
