Sark in the Channel islands is a very lovely place for a short visit. They have a medieval fuedal system still in place. No cars allowed, bicycle or foot is the only means of transport. Living there would drive you mad or alcoholic!

We stopped off at Sark, some years ago, and I had to row from the yacht to the coast with three passengers to pass one of my sailing qualifications.

I did :D .... then we celebrated in a great pub with a roaring fire. It was like stepping into a bygone era.

Someone else rowed us back a few hours later.

I remember the water being particularly sparkly and the Skipper said something about the mineral content there ... but I think I was too relaxed to acquire new facts ...

Yeah Sark is great for a quick stop-over before France ... :D

We know Greece has thousands.

But Britain is not short of a few characterful Isles. Some are famous for bird-watching or sailing or seal-spotting etc.

Which are your favourites and worthy of a visit? :D

In the UK, Skye. The birds and the scenery is awesome, beautiful and weird at the same time. The view of the North sea with all the hues of grey to Silver are amazing. A photogaphers delight.

The traffic island on my way out of the country at Heathrow. (one with the miniature concorde on)[/quote]

The miniture Concorde is now at Brooklands where it has been restored and is on show.

The traffic island is now occupied by a miniture Airbus A380 in Emirate Airlines livery.
