Recognition and its consequences by Niyazi Eren

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

From what I am reading in the forum the TC concerns are that GC will start shooting them out at the street
How do you expect the GC to react to such a fear?

With understanding and empathy would be a start, but all aside i may not have that fear but there is plenty of paranoid people on both sides(GC fears the turkish army) and we have to try and quash those fears through decent dialogue and understanding of why they have these fears and what they would need to over come these fears.

we all know how these fears were created and were justifiable until recently.

But not in todays world. not within the EU. the GC have other more important issues to deal with. they are not focused on how to attack TC.

Having said that, I am open to suggestions....but you should not forget that we will only accept union not division through separate states.

So whats with the 'we'? I can imagine your response if a fellow anatolian came on and spoke about what 'we' would accept.

salonica, the ponti came to cyprus because they were told so, they first settled in the region of western thrace near komitini, but the conditions there were so bad that they moved to cyprus. Do they not cause trouble? what are your views on them?

Guess what?
I am of Pontian descent  Actually my grand fother came from Pontus after exchange of population occured.

This is a very sad issue. A few years ago the PASOK gov in order to gain votes started to bring pontian greeks (some of them were ont even greeks) just to gain some votes. There has been a scandal in Greece at that time but the ND party decided not to procceed with investigations.

I am aware that they have been located mainly to east Macedonia and Thrace. The conditions that these people had to live were terrible.
Lately there have been made some steps forward.

Yes, I am against them coming in Cyprus in large numbers. and if this is a counter action for what the Ankara is doing is wrong.

Anyway, have to go now

later
