Oracle, I first became interested in Cyprus some years ago. I was telling my wife that a colleague was going on holiday there and she said that her mothers cousin served there during the troubles When Archbishop Makarios was leader in 1963. My wife's uncle was a batman or driver for the top brass in the British army. One day he received orders to take a Major Macey from Famagusta to Nicosia. They never arrived, a search took place and they were never found not even the vehicle, and as far as we know it is still is a mystery today. My next holiday was to be Cyprus I thought I could do a little detective work whilst taking in the sun and the sights. On our first night in Paphos I told the story to a Cypriot barman and without hesitation he told me Yes the Greek Cypriots killed them more than likely. I then took an interest in the history of Cyprus and came to love the Island and the people. Our last visit was in July with my daughter and son in law and three grandkids and we were not disappointed this being our seventh visit to the Island.
