i mean because cyprus is not a official country for the iphone. say for example i save your number and i save 99 999999 ok so one day you ring me.. and your name shows up when you ring Kostas for example, but when you send me a text message your name will not show even though you are saved on my contact list... ok so simple solution i save your number +357 99 999999 so now i have saved your number with the area code, so you send me a text message and your name this time shows on the text message! great i know who is messaging me... okk which is fine but when you ring me now your name does not show and i see only the number even though i have you saved in my contact list... another simple solution to save your number TWICE in my contact list, once with +357 and once without... or i can simply jailbreak my phone and download region patch which fixes this problem. which i have done.

no the whole idea of jailbreaking is so you can install 3rd party applications, it simply wont work if you dont jailbreak you phone :/ but kypraia has the same problemw ith her 3g she jus saves numbers twice, this problem will go away once the iphone is official in cyprus, she does not want to jailbreak so would rather save numbers twice for now.. you might want to do the same if jailbreaking is not something you want to do, i could easily send you the file but there is no way to install it.. [email protected] if you want me to send it to you so you can try an fail ;p sorry i know its not what you want to hear but im sure it will be officail in cyprus soon

Greece will have unlocked iphone 3G for sale, December the earlier!!
Let's look for other options...

I have contacted the guys at 3kcy.com and they have told me that 16GB 3G will be available in 2 weeks.
Greece is out of stock for the next 2 months.
Other local shops ask for almost double the price 3kcy has.
So, are these all the available options we have? Yeah, I know...I need it the sooner possible

thnx paliometoxo! Poullos the iphone 3g is officially in greece now..its unlocked to all network carriers.. Btw in order to have acces to appstore i will have to create an itunes account. But cyp is not in the list. so i must create ,lets say, a uk account... if i do this am i going to be able to access the appstore?

Greece has iphone 3G only for contracts under vodafone gr for now. New unlocked shipments will arive later in december.

I think you will be able to access appstore. I did it myself and downloaded free applications although I don't have the phone yet. Maybe someone who tried it can enlighten us.

There is a third option, to bring it from UK. It's around 450 euro locked but you need to unlock it yourself.

you can sign up to itunes store, i signed up in england and i did not have to put credit card details but then you wont be able to download the non free games or apps which a lot of them are very good and cheap i would enter credt card details because the free ones are not as good.. then from the iphone you can download through app store with your username and password and it charges your credit card
