i dont think you can use the pay cards for apps though because its not apple that make the 3rd party applications i think you have to put your credit card to pay the delveopers of the apps and games not apple... they probably get some of the money but Kypraia was unable to buy apps or games from app store with her voucher but she says she thinks there is a way to use it.... you should ask apple in their forums they can help you

Althought iv hurd many people say they can buy theirs with the itunes card!
you should ask in the apple forums. and let us know ;)

Hi all!

I'm thinking of buying an iphone too. The big question is whether it's worth to get the new one instead of the old one. The only major differences are GPS and 3G. 3G costs a lot here in cyprus and I won't be using data packages for more than checking my email. Edge will do. Then it's GPS which I don't know if it fully supports cyprus and the exact use here.

The price for the new one is too high and if I buy the 3G one, I will probably get it from greece, where it's sold unlocked, 500 euro for the 8GB and 570 euro for the 16GB.

Cheers!

Hi all, new member here :) I found out about this forum while searching for info about the iphone 3G in Cyprus.

paliometoxo, the site you mentioned before (hackint0sh) is really great and very informative! Thank you for that and if you have any other good sites in mind about iphones please let me know.

kyprea, why did you get the iphone 3G from technica ? Vodafone (GR) is selling it for 500 Euros, officially unlocked !!

Also yesterday O2 (UK) released the Pay as you Go version of the iphone 3G for £350 GBP (440 Euros) but it's locked on the O2 network and no software unlock exists yet. (Only some cra*** sim adapters that everyone suggests to avoid). The good thing though is that they give you 1 year FREE 3G & WiFi, wherever you are in the UK. (Normally this would cost you £120 GBP extra) So the "real" price of the iphone 3G is £230 GBP.

Since I'm studying in the UK for my university degree I was thinking of getting the iphone 3G from O2 on PAYGO but it really troubles me that I wont be able to use it when I'm in Cyprus or when travelling. So what do you guys think ? Should I get it from Greece for 500 Euros unlocked, without the 1 year free web; or should I just get it from O2 for 440 Euros (60 Euros cheaper) + the 1 year free web and hope that a software unlock will come out soon ?

Thanks,

Michael C.

Thanks for your quick reply paliometoxo :) i will check those websites later on.. I know about the tarrifs in England but I don't like contracts .. I prefer no strings attached deals !! I'm used to buying simfree handsets because in Cyprus Cytamobile used to be the only carrier and there where no deals for mobile phones with the contracts..
