Small Step for a Man ... Giant Leap for Mankind!

Postby Oracle » Sun Jul 20, 2008 3:56 pm

For every one of Mankind's worst mistakes, we fortunately have at least one balancing positive achievement. 8)

Apollo 11 was the first manned mission to land on the Moon on 20th July 1969.

The lunar module "Eagle", separated from the command module "Columbia" and after a shaky course, landed in the Sea of Tranquility crater.

"We came in peace for all Mankind"

I for one believe this one. :D

It didn't really happen. It was faked in a film studio!

Yes, but the film studio was located on Mars.

I for one believe they did land on the moon because things did not go very smoothly.

If the Americans were out to glorify themselves, they would not have been able to resist making everything appear perfect.

They botched the landing and went too far west of the crater ... but not enough to end up on Mars

Unless it was a double bluff :?

Seriously? Yes, I know they landed on the moon. The theories about it being faked have all been disproven long ago.

Is it the American way to be all-trusting, and not harbour doubts? :?

I take nothing for granted, but when a counter position is unsupported I find it easy to dismiss. All the moon landing hoax theories I have heard have been soundly discounted and there is no reason to think the landing did not occur.

I too have looked at the counter-evidence and decided the Moon landings were for real. But only after much scepticism.

I just wondered since America figures for a lot of the Conspiracy theories, if people are more hardened to accepting what they are told, instead of labouring under a lot of doubt.

Area 51 springs to mind ...

Well, America did mostly fall for the WMDs in Iraq lie, so we are at least a little gullible. I think about 30% of Americans still believe Sadam Hussein had direct involvement in the 9/11 attacks.

Area 51 is just a testing area for top secret planes is all. There is nothing about aliens that I have ever seen, but the secrecy makes it ripe for fantasy and imagination.
