That is the pertinent point.

It would then be open to anyone, no matter their ethnicity, be it pure or of mixed origins.

This is about politics not genealogy.

Oracle are you seriously suggesting that the T/Cs are going to stand to attention whilst the GREEK national anthem is played ?
Are you suggesting that they accept the Greek flag as theirs too. Because the RoC and the G/Cs have to decide on these two very crucial issues.
We tell the world that we are an independent nation , we issue IDs and passports bearing our nationality as CYPRIOT , then we open our parliament to the sounds of the Greekl national anthem , we participate in world events and have the same anthem played. It is time we decide , are we Cypriots first or are we two peoples , Turkish and Greeks , this after all is what Turkey wants doesn't she , two people two nations.
I dont have much time left , an important event is approaching in Central London. Will debate further.
For all concerned I'm a Cypriot , a KIPREOS first and foremost and above all else .

The question is very clear .Are we the people of Cyprus CYPRIOTS first , just as the people of Malta are Maltese , the people of Spain are Spanish and so on and so forth.

Again, Maltese and Spanish are ethnicity's.

All Cypriots, being either of Greek, Turkish, Maronite, or of Latin ethnicity should have ultimate allegiance to Cyprus.

There is a clear distinction between Ethnicity and Nationality , however the question here are we the people of Cyprus CYPRIOTS Or bloody foreigners .

As stated earlier, all Cypriots of various ethnicity's should have allegiance to the RoC.

To consider yourself as either of Greek, Turkish, Armenian, Latin or Maronite ethnicity does not make you a foreigner.

Everyone can see that the main reason of our conflict is the fact that we have not embraced our very own ethnicity that of the Cypriot nation .

This is no excuse to not allow persons to freely express pride in their Ethnicity as long as they are not hurting anyone with nationalistic anachronistic ideals. Embracing Cypriotism, does not mean abandoning your heritage and ethnicity.

Miltiades ... your feet are in 2008 but your heart is in 1960.

If you want a viable democratic country, you first elect the government.

If you wish minor changes to the daily running of the country, you lobby legitimately.

No flag will suit all people; in fact the Union Jack may offend a lot of Muslims being composed of crosses.

That does not and should not undermine the legitimate government and excuse its overthrow.

Miltiade you sound like free-cyprus with this thread.

By the way consider that this forum has Cypriots in UK, America, Australia etc. who lived half or most of her lives there. That makes them Cypriots, Greeks/Turkish and Australians/British/Americans ...

I dont see where this question will lead to.

Having just returned from attending the annual protest march that takes place in central London every year since the Turkish invasion of Cyprus , I can say that I'm saddened to see that we have still not learned much from the last 34 years. Here we have the government of the RoC TELLING ALL CYPRIOTS THAT IT HAS THEIR INTERESTS AT HEART , THAT IT REPRESENTS ALL CYPRIOTS , and yet 3 massive Greek flags adorn the procession.
When are we going to learn that we can not say one thing and do the opposite. Are WE a Greek Island then if so why the hell dont we come clean and accept PARTITION. It makes my blood boil that we are so bloody narrow minded in not realizing that the people of Cyprus have a right to be independent and be Cypriots. What the hell is it with Greece and Turkey that makes our people so anti Cypriot .
Kafenes told us he is a Cypriot and that's all , I will join him and say I'm a Cypriot full bloody stop. I'm a proud Cypriot I do not mince my words.Cypriots wake up embrace your Cypriotness or accept partition or even worst annexation of Cyprus by Turkey and Greece.
I have attended the annual march since 1974 missing perhaps 6 or 7 years, I carry a banner and I join in the call for Turkish troops out , but I will never participate in a march again that the organizers see fit to adorn the procession with a Greek flag . I Shall express my views to the new President Peter Drousiotis , I will not go along being a hypocrite.
British parliamentarians , amongst them Simon Hughes who has been supporting our cause for the last 34 years missing only one year , called for the unification of our island just as the others did , referred to Cyprus as the country of all Cypriots , yet we carry on as two distinctly separate people.
Is this what we want ? What message are we sending to the T/Cs , or do we not simply care .

This is a silly question. I am a Greek Cypriot. Cypriot nationality, Greek ethnicity. I am a Greek native to Cyprus, so Cyprus is my island and comes first. I really do not understand why people like Miltiades persist with these silly questions. Do you really think TCs will say to themselves, the GCs are not Greek anymore so we can reuunite? This is very naive stupidity. Ask a man from Crete if he is a Cretan or a Greek and tell me his answer, then I will vote in your Poll.
